Want a series win really bad here, so they might as well and try and win the first one.

This won't be a easy series. Marlins as usual have some good young talent. And there rotation isn't bad.
Reds will need to play well.
I like Naquin at 2nd. At least while he is on a hot streak.

I predict a couple or three cans of corn from Ekim Sakatsoum. Hopefully, he accidentally runs into a hanging something that fails to slide or curve.

At the plate, he's looked like Buford Pusser clubbing the hell out the guys at the "Lucky Spot" saloon. Go EKIM!!!

I like Aquino 8th. He will draw some walks from that spot and turn the lineup over. I’d also have Aquino in CF and Naquin in LF, but whatever.

I feel like the Reds need 3 of 4 here - even though the Padres are struggling. A losing home stand would be very disappointing against these clubs. Most of MIA’s value this year has come from their young pitching. We won’t see Pablo Lopez or Trevor Rogers. Sandy Alcantara in game 4 will be tough - especially since the Reds hit .00001 as a team in day games.

If Naquins at 2nd, where would India play? Sorry, but with the way this team shuffles positions, I had to check...

AUGUST 19: Cincinnati manager David Bell told reporters (including Mark Sheldon of MLB.com) this afternoon the team does not expect Winker will be ready to return when first eligible next Thursday. Bell didn’t provide any specifics as to when the Reds do believe Winker can make it back on the field, although he noted that the 28-year-old hasn’t yet begun baseball activities.

It’s a shame the handling of Farmer is going to make me like him less than his very important contributions this year should merit.

The Reds are 32-29 on their home turf. Cincinnati is hitting a collective batting average of .252 this season, led by Nick Castellanos with an average of .313.

The Marlins have gone 21-40 away from home. Miami's lineup has 122 home runs this season, Jesus Aguilar leads the club with 22 homers.

Castellanos ranks second on the Reds with 52 extra base hits and is batting .313.

Aguilar leads the Marlins with 106 hits and is batting .265.

LAST 10 GAMES: Reds: 4-6, .241 batting average, 4.67 ERA, outscored opponents by five runs

Marlins: 4-6, .262 batting average, 6.93 ERA, outscored by 10 runs

Based on the numbers of the last ten games, it looks like a pretty even series.

I'll give our gentleman in Red about a 19% chance of sweeping these four and about a 59% of winning this series. (yes, I did some probability math)

That only leaves about 20% to account for a split, which I'd guess would be more probable than that!

Fluid on his knee...alright this could be really bad for his career unfortunately. This leads me to believe he has some significant traumatic arthritis in his knee. Hope I'm wrong...

C. Trent Rosecrans
@ctrent

OF Nick Senzel has had his option reversed. He was seen by multiple doctors this week and he had fluid on his surgically repaired left knee. He was optioned Sunday. That option will be reversed. He'll go to Arizona for rehab while on the (big-league) IL

"He deemed himself healthy for five days prior to coming back," Reds GM Nick Krall said. "At the end of the time, he was not healthy. He was trying to push through it and didn't want to say anything. We had him see the doctor and he had fluid on the knee."

"Our goal is to get him healthy," Krall said, "not push through this."

Basically, it's as if the option was never used. It's like the transaction never happened.

Senzel had "multiple" medical opinions, Krall said.

The Reds seem to take a once size fits all approach to hitting, which is a lot of early swinging. And it works a lot of the time. But you'd think, especially if you're going bad, that you might want to take a pitch here or there...

Very nice job by Luis. Now we just need the offense to be more than the Fightin’ Vottos.

Nice start by Aquino - who should play every day with Winker out.

I think MLB teams over think decisions to move players up. They think they’re fragile little babies who will fall apart if they aren’t all stars their first year. He wasn’t ready last year and he didn’t do good. He didn’t quit, he realized what he needed to do and he did it. Sometimes you just have to throw them to the wolves. If he didn’t come up and fail last year he might not be where he is today.

Can anyone name me another stadium or crowd that is doing the wave still in 2021 besides GABP.

Good to see a happy crowd, of us old enough to remember the 80’s when this was a thing…. I don’t have Def Leppard hair, but somehow the wave is still alive.

Didn’t the Tigers make that popular.

I’ve wondered about the wave thing. Why do people insist on starting it? There is always a bunch that is on a mission from god to start it. It was fun for about a year in the early 80’s. Since then, no.

Agreed. Padres are teetering on the verge of done. Maybe their pitching can get right - but it hasn’t so far. Hold off the Cards and get ready for Scherzer/Kershaw.
