I believe when a hitter is really swinging it well the lefty/righty thing matters way less.

Naquin at 7th vs a meh lefty is not putting enough into things that should be considered.

Hope Suarez doesn’t strand 7 runners today. Naquin seeing it right now better than Votto.

We should win despite all of this but I hate when a player is on fire and he gets moved around the lineup while players that are more established in their careers never get messed with.

If you read that and think that I don’t want Votto batting 3rd today then you are just looking for an argument.

Replay of pitch before showed Votto standing almost straight up and 4 feet off the base while pitcher had begun towards home then on pitch took a small hop fir a secondary lead if maybe 5 feet off the base…..no he wasn’t going to break up the DP but that is not how you play the game on the bases and it’s part of the reason the Reds stink as a baserunning team. Falls on Bell the lackadaisical effort on the bases.

Not everything is a career split decision, in fact I think it’s lazy decision to just go with the bigger sample size when the current happenings are going against every career split. Naquin should’ve been 5th at worst in this lineup and figuring on the lefty starter likely not going as deep as he did…..India/Naquin/Cast/Votto/Stephenson would’ve made more sense getting hit hitter more at bats and when relief time comes you don’t have 3 straight righties at the top.

I know the reason on paper….there’s not a lefty alive right now I’d trust Suarez or current Farmer to hit over current Naquin. Not everything is a career split decision, in fact I think it’s lazy decision to just go with the bigger sample size when the current happenings are going against every career split. Eerily reminiscent series to the last one against the Cubs where they easily won the first game and you assume the series is in the bag with a sweep a distinct possibility. And then the offense goes out the next two games and are seemingly sleepwalking through ABs, managing a pathetic two runs over two full games both times. Don't know if it's overconfidence or they're pressing but you simply can't afford games and series like that in a playoff push.
