Look at the gap between Naquin and Barrero on the earlier play. A major gulf. Makes the short fly ball an adventure.

Look at both plays where the fielders are positioned and tell me they are the same catch %. If Naquin is 3 steps in it’s still a tougher play than the absolute routine Votto high short fly

I can agree Naquin should’ve been shallower but that ball off the bat was enough of a liner that Barrero was fooled of it’s path….Bader wasn’t camped upset Votto’s but it was easy and Naquin 2-3 steps back still gets that ball.

Good question. Before the streak started, I would say probably between 1 and 2%. However, when we consider the conditional probabilty of winning six straight in Busch, GIVEN that you have won five straight AND have a four run lead , I'd say that the probability was probably 85%. We lost a game we had an 85% chance of winning after gaining a 4 run advantage.

I like baseball and the Reds are my team. When one of the other 29 teams have a player do things well, I appreciate it. Arenado spent good time as my favorite MLB player, I’ve always greatly respected Goldschmidt. I may be the only Reds fan that has no issue with Molina. I appreciate how much they’ve willingly went oppo over the years and IMO definitely won them that one World Series. I appreciate (not as much this year but for a long time) their pitchers never give in. Live on the edge and an occasional walk is better than a cream puff and play off teams that are overly aggressive early in count (Reds)

But I’m never rooting for the Cardinals unless it’s a must need for the Reds chances.

AR, I was thinking the same thing. If you listened to Castillo's post game remarks, he said he was not at all disappointed in the performance. Thought he did well. Are you kidding me? I want my guy to be PISSED OFF to the nth degree that he gave up a four run lead. I have changed my mind after this one. No way I want Castillo on the mound in a one off WC game with that smiley face , joking around with the opposition attitude. I say if we are fortunate enough to play the Dodgers or Giants, give the ball to Mahle or Sonny Gray.

You are most definitely right about Miley. Dude burns when he makes a mistake. Sonny is a bulldog, too. Been elite of late except for two pitches that costed him wins. Mahle has been great on the road. I put any three of them on the mound before smiley face, good natured, Luis. But guess what... they'll throw Luis if given the opportunity.
