Great article about the Chosen One.
I have a lot of relation along the Appalachian trail. A lot of mine though are farther south from Athens (Gallipolis, and WV). Just good people. Would give you the shirt of their back. We had the 100th Annual Clark Reunion in Gallipolis last June at Raccoon Creek State Park. My aunt and Uncle have a beautiul home on the main street in Gallipolis looking over the Ohio River. My uncle says he can sit out on his balcony all day drinking coffee and watching river activity.

I have a lot of relation along the Appalachian trail.
My entire family is from Appalachia.
I have had the opposite experience.
Mostly, clannish and distrustful of just about everything and everyone.

Wait, so you guys in this thread are telling me that every person in or from Appalachia is not the exact same?!? Why, I never!

I grew up in the heart of Appalachia. Plenty of good people were there then. Most would do anything for you. I never came across many that have been depicted in TV and the movies as inbreds and morons. I actually seen more like that living in urban areas. Most are smart and resourceful people who would literally give you the shirt off their back.
