It's good to see lineups and games again. Hope springs eternal even though you may not have much hope for this season. Sometimes miracles happen. Let's hope that 2022 will be something miraculous for the Reds.

Hard to go full Bugs but it fooled Franmil Reyes pretty good, definitely a nice looking out pitch.

The Guardians beat the Reds today, 3-2.

The Reds starters played five innings and got two at-bats.
“We’ve got to get ready quick,” Bell said.

In a 1-2-3 inning, Reds prospect Nick Lodolo hit 94 with his fastball and got a swing and miss strike three with his slider.
In the second inning, Lodolo strikes out the side.

SP Brandon Williamson (a big piece of the Mariners trade) just made his Reds debut. What stands out is a strong fastball (94) and then a swooping breaking ball in the low 70s.

He helped lead the Guardians to a sweep of the spring training series with the Reds.

Williamson's curve is 12-6.

If I don’t say so myself.
Watched the game. Lodolo sharp. His rhythm was better than I remembered. Guy’s around the plate nonstop. Williamson is very much over the top, and his curve looks super nasty, even Kershaw-esque. The rest of his repertoire looks good too. Will have to refine his command some, but he is not, and has never been, someone you’d call wild. He’s a really tall lefty — it takes those guys time. I think he’s a little further down the road with the changeup than Lodolo is, but it’s a very small sample and the first spring outing. Excited about both of these guys. Not sure if folks know he and Lodolo played together at TCU and have been off-season roommates for years. Going to be a fun duo going forward.
Two other notes:
McLain’s throwing error showed his relative weakness as a SS … arm is probably a tad short. Made a nice play on the ball to his right, but the throw fell off just a bit. I think he may end up a guy who plays all over. By no means would he be a disaster at short..it’s just that the competition in the system is going to be very tough.
Cerda flashed some at the plate. I would not sleep on him. Hit tools plus his proven ability to take walks is a promising mix for a guy who might be able to stay in center.
