Hello all - I am as cynical as anyone on here at this point but let’s pump the brakes on Greene panic over velo - there are a ton of reasons he may not have fully dialed it up that are not dire. I have some memory that he had starts like that last year in the minors. Not sure he will be at max velo EVERY start. Your mileage may vary.

I’m not saying he’s injured, could be dead arm or something, but that was an alarming first inning. Pitchers don’t usually drop 6 mph off their fastball randomly. I was more concerned with how much effort it looked like he was giving to reach 95.

Apple TV is doing a horrible job all around with these games. The audio/video out of sync, the horrible announcers, bad direction (Pham strikes out but they were showing something else during strike 3).

I pitched for a long time. There were some weird days in which I couldn’t get it up there like I normally could, and there never seemed to be a legitimate reason. Of course, I was nowhere near 100 and I didn’t have the same disciplined mechanics these guys have, which reduces your variance for oddball events. I don’t think Hunter dropping 5 mph is anything to casually disregard, but it certainly does not mean definitively something is amiss.

We’ll see where he sits the rest of the game. The lack of command combined with the velo drop is obviously concerning. I guess we’ll see. Just be prepared for the worst - the 2022 Reds will not disappoint in that regard.

FWIW, Apple TV+ has some great programming. It has quickly become a favorite in my house. Severance is fantastic.

Severance is on my list for sure. I tried the show about the nanny and couldn’t get into it. I thought Invasion was awful. I think a few others like Mosquito Coast and Home Before Dark look promising though. Also think the Amazing Stories new stuff looks intriguing.

I hope people don't excuse the front office for all of this due to injuries. You cannot simply jettison legit major league players like they did and backfill with crap and expect a competitive team. On top of that, it leaves you NO margin for error (injuries etc). It also puts a LOT of pressure on young arms to eat innings that they may not be ready for. Etc.

I certainly do not excuse the front office, I have been a loud Krall Kritic since last year. With that said, the amount of injuries are unprecedented and I gotta say, it seems like they race a LHP starter every single night.
