Man, I hope we win tonight, I don't feel confident about TBD and SanMartin in the next 2 games. Unless TBD ends up being Castillo.
Tonight's game seems like a fairly even matchup (to someone like me that hasn't been following the Rockies).
Hopefully we can get the W.

Yeh, and they reversed joe connor's name.

Rockies placed Kris Bryant on the 10-day IL today, so he won't face the Reds this weekend. He's a career .308/.407/.572 hitter against the Reds with 26 doubles and 23 homers in 94 games.

The box score has the wind blowing 14 mph out to right. Good night for Joey to lose one in the slipstream.

Yes could be wind gusts of 40 MPH tonight. Could be a wild night in Denver

Greene’s velo is still down.

The west is having record winds the last day or two. Snowstorm in idaho. Crazy spring weather. God kbow how it will affect the game.

They tee'd off on Greene's fastball this inning. 96 mph probably isn't going to get it done for him. Slider did look good tonight though.

Mediocre start from Greene still a lot of work to do. Fastball command just wasn't where it needed to be.

TheBigLebowski
04-29-2022, 10:18 PM
Hunter is done. 4.2 IP, 4 ER.

If 96 is going to be where he lives, his career trajectory is nowhere near as exciting. He’s got to have that 99/100 MPH to separate himself.

HRs are a problem for Hunter. You can survive a solo or two but those 3 run shots will ruin your start in a hurry.

Well on that McMahon HR he pointed up and it was out. Out to the second deck.

Hunter looked fine tonight but four innings would have been enough. And when gave up double in fifth, that was more than enough. He’s a young pitcher, 3-4 good innings enough for now. Then push for more later in season.

For those talking about the weather, it’s really really windy here (Denver). It’s uncomfortable being outside.

On a different note, I’m taking the squad to the game Sunday. It’ll be nice to see the Reds without supporting the Castellini’s. We’ll be in LF and I look forward to catching a couple of Aquino’s homers ;)

We're still in April, folks. Five more months and 142 games to go. Long , long season ahead. I feel blessed to have grown up in the seventies. At least I got to experience the greatest years of Reds' baseball. At times like this, I rely on all those memories of being a Reds' fan as a kid and watching some of the best baseball players ever.

I’ll dive into this in other threads I’m sure but this could be a dumpster fire of a pitching staff the likes of which we’ve never seen. There’s no where to turn to for backup.

Maybe so, BCubb. I remember expecting the Reds to win every single night they played back during the BRM era in the mid 70's. And you could tell the players expected to win every game. Now, I expect them to lose about every time out. And I think these players expect to lose.

I still can’t believe how bad this team is.

Considering that india, senzel and pham all hit well, i agree! The caveat has always been "if so and so starts hitting" or "when we get so and so back..." .well they are and still nothing. We will see a day when votto contributes to this group and we might overcome the pitching and win one. One. Then it'll always be another stretch where we lose 6, 8, 10 in a row. That is the reality of this season.

Davey was always a terrific defender but he became a much better offensive player as he matured and got stronger. . Early on in his career as a Red he was quite weak as a hitter. Never would I have imagined in the early '70's that Davey would someday hit one into the upper deck at Riverfront Stadium.

Btw, Gags , my first Reds' game was August 20, 1971--- a 6-0 Ross Grimsley shutout of the Pirates.
