Reds only have a three man bench. So you don’t want to lose the DH. However, I’d still use Stephenson as DH in some of these Garcia games.

If you must hit for Garcia, and TS moves to catcher, you lose the DH.

I think I’d take that risk since having TS hit four times in this game is worth it IMO.

With Votto out, why isn’t he just at 1b with Moran and the DH. You lose the risk of losing the DH that way.

I’d go for that too.

Coming off his concussion, with three games in 1 1/2 days, maybe Bell is being prudent today.

But generally I’d like Stephenson to play in a number of these Garcia games.

Ky Fried Redleg

Stephenson is the Reds' best player, bar none. Maybe it's just me, but I'd play him as often as possible(assuming he's completely healthy, of course).

I'm still not over this. This is what the Pirates announced.
Robert Pérez left with "left hamstring discomfort"

A professional athlete needing to be carried off the field by two other men is a wee bit more than "discomfort" in my book.

Tyler Stephenson on Josh VanMeter catching: “When I went up to hit, I told him just to take it to arbitration, so he could get paid a little more.

When he came up his last at-bat, he was like, ‘Man, my legs are already hurting.’ It was funny.”

Lucas Sims said an attitude adjustment was what he needed:
"Go on the attack. Quit trying to freaking nibble.

I got in trouble with the previous two outings of just nibbling. That’s not me. That’s not what I do. That’s not what I do well. That’s not what I do."

Lucas Sims on Tyler Stephenson:
"You can’t explain it, but he’s kind of got ‘it.’ I don’t want to deem him Mr. Clutch, but he’s come through in a lot of big situations for us."

I don’t care how successful the Rays are with their relievers openers. It’s not something I would ever want done in case of an emergency. You had Hoffman who had actually been ok enough to warrant the emergency start. Or hey how about this new guy who’s doing ok. But the usual monkey see monkey do mentality of other teams in sports rules the day. I imagine no real starter wants to pitch for the Rays.

Is this a counter-point? I’m honestly asking.

Are you asking for a friend?

It’s a Point-Counter Point like the one from Airplane!

Bell knew what he was getting into when he started Moreta. The fans bought their tickets.
I say. Let ‘‘em crash.

He was on his horse. It’s a slow horse, but he was on it.

I just walked in the house and turned the game on. It looks like Voglebach stepped right over third.

At least Santillan has pitched better today.

Pham got his footwork messed up and airmailed Farmer on the cut-off -- would have been cut down at home had he got a good throw to Farmer.

Had they called him safe and the Reds had challenged, I think the call would have stood either way

I agree, but puzzled why they said the call was confirmed!

It seems the Reds hold the record this season for allowing 3 runs or more in an inning.

Moran missed his RBI on the 2nd strike with his foul ball just wide of first when they were giving the run on a grounder!

Farmer has become the king of weak grounders during his slump.

He needs a couple good oppo hits to get him going

@ctrent

Jared Solomon walked the first batter he faced in the big leagues, then gave up an infield single. Two Ks and a flyout later, he walks into the dugout, a big-leaguer.

Solomon was asked if getting a K for his first big-league out made it better: "It's freakin' awesome man. That's why we're here. We want punchies. I don't want fly-ball outs or ground-ball outs, I want punchies."

Never change, Jared.

Players who suffered two lost years due to the pandemic + injury and came out of it on the other end a hell of a lot better are super inspiring.

Jared never pitched above High-A before injury. After it, he flew through AA + AAA to MLB. He's a true dog. #reds #drivelinefamilly
