I liked him too.
When I was a kid I always wondered if they would've traded Robby if Johnson didn't drive in all those runs in '65

Reds had a crazy offensive year in 1965. Finished #1 or #2 in most offensive categories. I think they did get overconfident that they’d keep that run scoring rate up without Robby.

I didn’t realize Johnson has as long of a career as he did. I had a player crush on him in the 64-66 era.

We're good again. Just kidding, but what a pleasant surprise to wake up from my nap to see this win.

Injuries aside, anyone else think the CEO's comments opening day had any effect on the way this team started?

I think he's the fellow who said hitting against Koufax was like eating soup with a fork.

In the Reds season of futility....is 156 posts in a win an all-time low for RZ game threads?

I like this team. Far more fun to follow than last year's, IMO. I'm thoroughly tired of waiting for Nick Senzel to be able to play for two weeks in a row or wondering whether Moustakas will ever hit the ball again. I'd much rather watch the stories of Pham, Drury, Moran, Freidl, et. al. unfold. Surprise of the second half.

Deron Johnson had a nice career. He played in parts of seasons from 1960 to 1976. His best season was in 1965 for the Reds.

Reds are on a roll with butter on it. Two in a row and three of four. Watch out NL Central!

Nope, the day before had 110 posts in a win. But it was Mother's Day

I mean, you never know. 12.5 games is a lot, but not over the long haul.

Won't happen, Greene throws batting practice today

I haven't been seeing much reporting or talk about the Cubs "tanking" even though I predict when the dust settles on this season, the Reds will finish ahead of Cubs and Pirates.

Can't whip on the "Bungles" so the media goes after the Reds? Anti-Cincinnatiites?

Is it bad that I was as interested in searching and finally finding that Deron Johnson was the 4th guy. As much as I was the actual game?
It was a great scoreboard stumper

Nope not at all. I like to look up players from when I was really young and see if they really were as good or bad as I thought then.

Deron was just before my time. I started following in 74 and by 75 I really started understanding the game a lot more.
He was a good hitter by have read he continued to burn bridges with club after club.

Missed the game last night but that was a good win for the Reds. Winning this series would be a step in the right direction!
