Looking forward to seeing Greene for the first time today, especially up against the Jays ace. Three weeks ago I was dreading coming to see this series but the Reds “improvement” and the Jays slump has made things more interesting. I take my hat off to those on this site that still go to all the home games at GABP as this is the most anonymous Reds line-up I can remember. No-one excites me when they come to the plate. For all the Reds problems, at least they only have to deal with low expectations. With their current golden generation of talent the Jays are supposed to be World Series contenders but there’s a real risk that Guerrero and Bichette will never get to the play-offs with this team. Yesterday, I encountered 10 other Reds fans at the Rogers Centre and they all looked depressed. Still, the home fans gave Votto a genuinely warm round of applause, and the Jays cap in the giveaway yesterday was of good quality.

Barrero can’t return soon enough.

They said he would need a extended rehab assignment. Who knows how long that will be. I'd start him for a week then if he has no setbacks get him to Cincinnati and put him at SS and leave him there.

Pham hitting third is right up there with Friedl leading off for me. So far in 61 AB's in May Pham has 2 extra base hits.

I said this before. I will of course root for Pham. But he is right up there with Edmonds as one of my least favorite Reds.
Not going to be mad when he is dealt.

Call me crazy but if the shift is gone next year. I think Joey will hit at or near .300. He has hit a ton of rockets that would've been hits against a old school aliment.
I think he just needs to grip and rip this season get the ball in the air.
Next year if no shift use his old .300 average stance.

Not gonna say I foresaw Senzel becoming the complete pumpkin he became, but I didn’t want him where we took him. He just had no superstar upside, and I’m not a fan of using high picks on guys who, best case, profile to above-average major leaguers. Senzel’s most popular comp was Jeff Cirillo. Cirillo was a good player, but if you’re taking a guy there who maybe, if stars align, becomes Cirillo, everyone is being set up for disappointment.

And I’m not ready to declare Manoah the winner over Lodolo, but I absolutely would swap them right here, right now if given the choice. Still, both guys can be stars. Hopefully they both will.

The Reds have done a really capable job of making some really bad picks with some bad luck. Without question, given the ridiculous amount of high first round picks they’ve had in the last 20-25 years, this franchise should have produced a lot more good, homegrown players. That’s got to improve. A small market team like Cincinnati, especially run by this ownership group, HAS to win the draft almost every time. Maybe Hendrick pans out. I know a lot of folks are down on him, but it’s very early. McCall is another one of those high floor, low-ceiling types. Hopefully he pans out. In all likelihood, we’ll have a top 3 pick this season, and let’s hope there’s a can’t-miss guy available when we pick.

Can't win many games when you only score 1 run.

What I can't understand is how the 2016 first round (including Senzel) is a wasteland, but then you get Reynolds, Alonso, and Bichette in the late second round?

Have a feeling we’re going to be saying “could have Manoah” for the next decade

McLain

McLain = India = Senzel

By that I mean it seems like the Reds are drafting the same type of player.

Solid maybe but not elite. When is the last time since Jay Bruce we’ve had genuine reason to be excited about an OF prospect?

It can be done. Ask the Pirates.

You’d never see that in football or basketball. Baseball is just so freaking hard to project. So many recent busts - Mickey Moniak and Spencer Howard always come to mind.

The thing with Senzel, though, is he was supposed to be a safe pick. A plug and play immediately guy.

The Reds didn't have a pitcher go 6 innings in their first 31 games. In the next 8, Reds starters have gone at least 6 in 7 of those games, including today where Hunter Greene just finished the 6th. Baseball is weird

Also, as of today, Hunter Greene is no longer "a prospect" as today was his 45th day on the active roster. Same thing for Alexis Diaz.

Just happy we beat Cleveland. The rest of the games I couldn’t care less, actually I prefer we lose.

Reds are 11-28.

That’s a win percentage of .282.

Over the full season it’s 46-116 W-L record.
The level of play in these losses is far better than what we were seeing earlier, might not translate immediately to wins but it’s way better than April.

Reds have not produced a decent right handed hitting OF since Reggie Sanders who they drafted in 1987.

Connor Overton has a sore back so Graham Ashcraft will start Sunday for the Reds. It’ll be his big-league debut

Ehhhh, McLain was drafted like 18th overall. I cannot really compare it to the Senzel pick at, what, 2?

Crazy and a shame that this Blue Jays team missed the playoffs last year.

Besides the fact that they are beating the Reds right now, they are a really talented and fun team. Easy to like.

Very easy to like. One end of the Jay’s dugout has been christened The Barrio and all the hispanic players hang out and lark about there to keep loose. The other players on the team can be honorary members if the latinos think they “deserve” it. They have the home run jacket that gets put on a player after he hits one and whoever is being interviewed after the game for Sportsnet TV (this evening it was Bichette) gets doused from a huge bucket of ice water. The interviewer, usually poor Hazel Mae, gets soaked every time too.

Another good afternoon at the Rogers Centre, apart from the result. I loved watching Greene bamboozle the Jays through his six innings, but, boy, that Bichette HR was a rocket, one of the crispest bat sounds I’ve ever heard. I liked Hunter’s composure after Moustakas’ pathetic throw kept the inning going longer than it should have. Apparently, the Jays had been wrongly informed that the Reds are actually a team of vampires, which is why they opened the roof during the game to let the sun in. Of course, it back-fired when the Reds took the lead. As soon as the Jays went ahead, though, the result felt inevitable. If the recent improvement in Reds SP continues, when we have India, Barrero, Solano and Schrock back our team might once again hold their own in respectable company.

Go Greene - Hopefully, the Reds sustainable option!

Then why are you here? Next Cleveland-Reds game 2023. And who is "WE" I had no idea you played for the Reds.
