We’ll be heavily favored tomorrow with Castillo v. Corbin. Poor Patrick is throwing about $30MM worth of batting practice this year…

Yes but Corbin throws from the Left side. You know the Reds and facing LHP. Corbin did have 1 decent game this year. So he is due for another.

On this team saving your best reliever to pitch the 9th? So your best reliever would then get in less games than every other reliever. Because they don't often have the lead in the 9th.

Oh and the pitching coach is the opposite of taking what he has and making it work or passable. The Yankees have about 3 reclamation projects who are pitching like their the nasty boys.

I hate our defensive alignment based on our pitch location way too often

That's more about being unable to hit the target.

Strickland was supposed to put that ball up and he grooved it belt high for a 2-run single. Just a terrible 0-2 pitch.

I also don't know why the players can't do the right thing once the ball is hit. On the single that broke the tie, by only one run that they would have had a chance to make up, CF didn't have the knowledge when he fielded it on a hop that any play would be at 3rd and come directly up and throw it there, and the P should have known to back up there and he immediately went no where but stay around the mound!

The last two hitters that got hits.. why ih why throw Franco a fastball to him? His slider should have been thrown. Then Hernandez swings at two sliders down. You throw a fastball with 2 strikes right down the middle?? Ugh the pitch calling

Why does bell keep putting Strickland in

When Bell is mercifully fired in 3 or 4 years, he’ll never again have a MLB manager job.

He’s just not good.

It’s time to move on from Stricnine. He has done nothing for them. He will do better with another pitching coach.

I want them to lose every game they play for the remainder of the year and I want it to be ugly. In the offseason, clear the house. Krall. Williams. Bell. Derek Johnson. Cut the crap from this roster. Just blow this (crud) up and start over. There’s a funk inside this organization that’s been festering for 30+ years.

Lose. Every single day. Lose miserably.

Reds bullpen:

3 IP

7 R
1BB

Went from a 7-3 lead to 10-7 loss in 7 innings. And I agree with Tony. No more Strickland.

I’d take that bet, I can easily see him becoming a bench coach for a good team and then getting another managerial gig.

Something tells me a lot of owners out there aren't going to hold the Reds not winning against him given the injuries, ownership group, etc.

Besides, it's common for guys to get multiple chances.

Obviously only time will tell. Perhaps another franchise will go the cheap route.

But his resume is not good. I get it that he’s not been given a full deck of cards to play with but he makes poor decisions with the cards he has been given.

We have been told it’s not the manager who actually makes the decisions anymore. They are being made by the binder people in the FO. So we all know how bad those people are.

His resume is actually pretty solid. Reds fans for some bizarre reason only ever looked at his Louisville Bats record but he spent several years on staff with the Cubs and Cardinals including as the Cards bench coach, and an important FO job with the Giants before coming here. Add in several years as a largely .500ish manager with a poverty franchise and he will definitely be someone who at least gets interviews post-Reds.

If you look at the batting averages of the lineups every day, it's obvious something is wrong. If you look at the bullpen, it's just not good. Using Strickland with the 6.41 ERA in a situation like that shows either there is no one he trusts or he's bat crap crazy. I'll be a Reds fans forever, but this game was winnable and poor decisions cost them the game. He got lucky last year with all that firepower and hitting. And it hurts to see the lowly Pirates winning and winning. Just mad as can be.

I’m finding myself more and more impressed with him as days go by. I don’t like managers getting too much credit but I think he’s done very well in keeping the wheels from falling off.

The Reds are just a farm team any good player will be traded and they will maybe win 65-75 game a year. The LAs and NYs will just feed off us till there is nothing left, like it is now.
