That bottom third is about as bad as it gets in major league baseball, but okay.

That's not a bad lineup against a lefty. A lot better than what we've seen at times this season.

I hate the Reds organization plate approaches of the last 20 years

This is from the article I posted this morning in the Reds Offense 2022 thread in the ORG forum

Over the last three years, the Reds have restructured the Reds’ front office, aligned the Reds’ scouting vision with their player development vision and sought out more athletic, versatile position players with more well-rounded approaches at the plate.

Since these changes started to take place around 2019, the Reds are seeing the payoff in High-A Dayton and in Double-A Chattanooga with impressive prospects like Matt McLain, Michael Siani, Elly De La Cruz, Allan Cerda, Jose Torres, Jay Allen, Rece Hinds, Austin Hendrick and Mat Nelson.

When you make massive changes to the way you structure your farm system, it takes time for those prospects to trickle up to MLB.

What’s wrong with swinging at almost every pitch. It worked great for Roberto Clemente.

They don't swing at every pitch. The wait until there is 2 strikes and then swing at a pitch way out of the strike zone. And the Reds analysts will then tell all of us in the listening audience, it's hard to hit a baseball. This is and has been the Reds way for a long time. Give Donovan Solano another month or so and his .278 career average will be about .220.

Tony Cloninger

I'd be all for this team swinging at almost every pitch if they all could hit like Clemente.

The only hitting coach I saw that got players to buy into taking more pitches. Working counts. Was Chris Chambliss.
The issue is not having enough players who do that on their own or know how to. Dunn. Hatteburg. Votto. Winker. Pham. They have the skill and will to do it.

Neither the Reds nor Cubs have have had a pitcher lead the league in saves for nearly a quarter of a century. But in the decades of the 70's, 80's , and 90's , there were a total of nine(9) pitchers from either the Reds or Cubs who lead the NL in saves. Six were Reds; three were Cubs . How many can you name ???

Almora is the best CF, but I think Senzel is not good in corner OF spots and has never played there, or is bad because he has never had the opportunity to learn the corners.

Older guy having a career year for half a year. I'm not against signing him. But not for much or no more than 2 years. Big no on a overpay.
He's probably a platoon guy on really good clubs. He may be dealt soon to platoon for a contender.

Yes he messed up in the OF there. But he has been really good out there overall. Zero complaints on his defense.

Almora came over from RF and was closest to the ball. At that point, he should have just caught it.

Schrock probably would make a good pinch hitter. But with the DH now. The pinch hitter is needed way less.
He belongs in another ERA.

Senzel is an aggressive player. On that play, if he was too aggressive there would have been a collision.

Once Almora came into the CF area, he should have just caught the ball.

Both Senzel and Almora are CFers so sometimes they impede each other.

Indeed. I'll give you a hint. Reds drafted him in something like the 10th or 11th round, signed him for three thousands bucks in 1989 , left him unprotected in the '92 expansion draft, where the Marlins grabbed him. He developed a devastating changeup that carried him to seven All-Star apperances , 601 career saves, and a plaque in Cooperstown. GREAT JOB, REDLEGS!!! "HELLS BELLS !!!"
