So funny how Reds lineup looks better against LHP than RHP. Big change from last year. Of course, Winker had a great year in 2021 and Reds didn’t replace him with a strong LHH.

Updates from David Bell

-Nick Lodolo is set to make his next start in MLB on Monday or Tuesday. It’ll be a six man rotation with an upcoming doubleheader but no decision past that

-Mike Moustakas is “available off the bench, but not to the point of starting.”

-If Alexis Diaz’s bullpen goes well today, he could return Friday.

-Tyler Naquin leaves tomorrow for a rehab assignment.

It would have been nice if they had replaced him like you're saying, but I can see why they traded him. Toward the end of last season IIRC he became pretty one-dimensional.

I think Winker will have a big 2nd half with Seattle. Provided he is healthy. He is too good of a hitter to not produce better than he has so far.
Yes he struggles against LHP and in LF. But he can hit RHP.
Would've been a perfect DH. But so Would've Castellanos.
The Reds have sacrificed way too much power from last year to get better OF defense.
In a home park where you must have power hitters.
I hate how GABP plays. Beautiful park though.

Lineup looks a whole lot better to me with Solano in it. We now have at least six major leaguers in the first six spots and the next three are legitimate hopefuls.

If he was still with the Yankees he would be just fine. They turn manure into good there. Have you seen the garbage and retreads they have putting up 0s daily. Never getting tired or overworked it seems. No bullpen anywhere is this bad as here. It can’t all be the pitchers either.

RETRO WRIGLEY MOMENTS****

I watched both of these games live on WGN. Two of the longest homeruns Ive ever seen. Which do yo think was the longest?

First, another guy that hated the media. Big Dave Kingman This one has been estimated at between 530-550 feet. It went to the porch of the third house over on Waveland. A boy was out on the porch checking the mail when Big Dave's blast came a callin' . This was a wild game. The Cubs ended up losing 23-22. Kingman hit one in Wrigley a few years earlier as a NY Met that the NY Times estimated at 630 feet. This homer was Dave's third of the game. I will post the other long homer in the next post.

Retro Wrigley Homer #2 . I was watching this one on TV as well in 2000. A big, strong man by the name of Glenallen Hill absolutely pulverized a baseball. The ball simply exploded off his bat like a gunshot. Probably the loudest contact I've ever heard. Would love to know the exit velocity. This was estimated to be around 500 feet but when asked about it after the game , Hill bristled at that number and said it had to be more like 700 feet. lol
