I liked the pitching approach of Bauer, Gray, Castillo, Miley, Mahle. Lodolo has a good approach. Greene and Ashcraft seem to be developing a good approach.

MY GOD I hate Jim Edmonds. It sucks SO badly to be a Reds fan and live in Missouri so that I am FORCED to listen to these Cardinal announcers. I’ve tried listening to the Reds announcers and watch the game but the timing doesn’t match up and drives me nuts. Edmonds just laughing at things like “now the Reds aren’t in the chase yet are they” freaking ******. And then saying even the great Red Barry Larkin said the Cardinals have always played the game the right way and that he loves watching them play. He treats us like we are a sad pathetic excuse for a Major League team and this year has proven that but I remember him sucking terribly when he was a Red. Now they are talking about a position

They have/had command, and when things aren't going well they don't start just lobbing junk up there or dropping pitches into the dirt. Johnson doesn't have to do much with those guys. I'm not sold on DJ myself, but it's like you say. You can't make that judgement on the pitchers we have right now. I'll reserve judgment until about this time next season. I mainly have doubts because all of our media people go on about how great he is. They always say that until they don't. You can go right down the line of pitching coaches over the past many years. They were almost always praised for their greatness.

First career home run for Chuckie Robinson.

This Reds season has been a huge example of the importance of catching depth. Robinson has catapulted up the depth chart to get this chance with the Reds.

During this two-week stretch since he was called back up, Reds OF TJ Friedl entered today hitting .394 with a 1.219 OPS. Tonight, he adds a homer.

David Bell has been carving out more playing time for Friedl recently, and he's making it count.
