This season, at age 34, through 364 pitches, he's even better, with an average exit velocity of 83.7. He may not be young enough to have great stuff, but he's smart enough now to not serve up beefy pitches down the middle of the plate. He's had to have figured out his off-speed pitching. Batters are struggling to identify the speed of the pitch.

Saying all of that I don't want him back next season.

Pitching like he has last season and this season, about 1200 pitches so far, would allow him to go 2600 pitches like he did in previous seasons when he was really bad, if what he is doing is not because of less use, but because he actually is a much more intelligent pitcher. This would make him valuable as a 180-inning Starter with an ERA around 4.50. (30 starts of 6-innings per start)

Good that Anderson was taken out after four innings. He got hit hard in the 4th, contacts of 110.4 (GO) and 106.9 (S). But, they weren't pitches in the middle of the box, just good hits where he wasn't able to get the batters to miss. He had too many of them tonight in just four innings. Got out of it without allowing a run thanks to some good Defense and some timely quality strikeouts.

Throwing error from TJ Friedl allows a runner from second to score on a bloop single to left field. Shortstop Jose Barrero blocked Reiver Sanmartin, who was covering third base, and the throw gets away for Kevin Newman to score. Reds up 2-1

The Pirates tie the game on another error. Jose Barrero charged with the throwing error on an attempted inning-ending double play, though it did hit first baseman Matt Reynolds' mitt.

That type of EV usually results in a HR.

The Launch Angle was only 4, though.

Had it gone directly at a player, it might have caused damage.

I couldn't agree more. Also, to keep running him out there as a starter is not fair to the man himself. No one should have to endure
