The stars of the 2nd half was the Ravens offensive line. They were opening big holes for the running game and clearing space for Jackson. The Bucs defense also looked quite slow

I thought Brady was pretty decent. He just doesn't have much of anything around him

Kinda like Pete Rose made the most "outs" of any batter in MLB history. When you play till you're 45 you're going to have a few of those records. Ben Roethlisberger's record (sacks) is far more telling

Just wanted to repeat my post from July 29th...

Tom Brady's career ends this season.

Tampa Bay will not make the playoffs.

Tom Brady will be sacked 30+ times in just 10 total games.

Tom Brady will miss at least 6 games due to injuries from being hit so many times.

Tampa Bay's best O-Lineman, G Ali Marpet, 2021 Pro Bowler, retired.

Tampa Bay's other Starting Guard, Alex Cappa, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tampa Bay's starting Center, Ryan Jensen, suffered a season-ending knee injury this week.

With scrubs equal to what the Bengals had last season for Burrow, Brady will be running for his life and dumping the ball off on short passes the entire season to open or not open Receivers.

They won't have a running game.

They won't have time to throw long passes, one thing that's already an issue for Brady.

Tom Brady will not survive this season.

From NBC Sports w/ NBC Sports' comments:

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports “there's chatter in league circles” Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett could be fired if Denver doesn’t win its Week 8 game in London. Hackett has been at the center of the Broncos’ 2-5 start, with Denver leading the league in penalties and ranking last in points per game (14.3). The Broncos have lost four straight under Hackett, a stretch that's produced just five touchdowns. The Broncos' new ownership wasn't in place when Hackett was hired, leading to speculation Hackett will only get one season in Denver. With DC Ejiro Evero lurking as an interim option, a midseason firing is in play for Hackett. A loss to the Jaguars in London could lead to changes going into Denver’s bye.

From NBC Sports w/ NBC Sports' comments:

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Browns RB Kareem Hunt is available for a fourth-round pick. The James Robinson and Christian McCaffrey trades have the Browns looking to move on from Hunt, who is on pace for career lows in a contract year. Hunt’s $1.35 million salary is team-friendly but trading Hunt would save Cleveland $200K in per-game roster bonuses. Cleveland has also received “multiple calls” on CB Greedy Williams ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

Vikings just traded a 23 2nd round pick and a 24 3rd rounder for Detroit TE T J Hockenson and two fourth round picks in 23 and 24. This comes just after learning that Irv Smith is out 8-10 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Kwesi was aggressive in filling in roster holes. Giving up two high picks must have been difficult for him.
They could have just resigned last years TE #1 Tyler Conklin, who signed with the Jets this off-season and is playing well for them. Hockenson should be an upgrade. I think he is a top ten TE. He might even be the number two passing option after JJ.

I agree. It’s a sign of support for their other WRs. Claypool’s best year was his rookie year. He did have some big plays, and Chicago needs more offensive weapons, and that’s why they got a high #2. Potential is in the eye of the beholder.

nah, Bucs will win the division with a record over .500. Superman returned in the final minutes of that game....that final drive was vintage Brady. Btw, he threw the winning TD on the drive before and Miller just dropped it wide open in the back of the endzone. Look for Cade Otton to become a bigger factor for Brady in the 2nd half of the season. Brady has been a little lost without Gronk....but was ok with Brate, then he went down....but Otton has been coming on strong in recent weeks. I would also expect to see Rachaad White taking more snaps from Fournette in the 2nd half of the season as he is proving to be more of a receiving threat out of the backfield.

Still, they will struggle to win in the playoffs because they simply cannot run the ball. The difference between this team and the other Brady Bucs teams is the OLine is mediocre, and I think they made a critical mistake by not bringing back Suh for the run defense. Suh did not put up big numbers, but him and Vita Vea were just unmovable and stuffed most teams running games making them one dimensional. We finally got some of our secondary back today which helped, but will need Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to step up to fill to void of Shaq Barrett (out ACL). Finally Brady has been hurt by Julio Jones being injured, Godwin still looks to be around 75% of pre injury, Gage has not played to the level expected.....which has allowed teams to key on Mike Evans.

Depends on what their goals are. To show respectability for this year maybe so. They need to stop using older retread QB's in the future. They need to be 100% sure Ehlinger is not the future. Do they know that already? Even still, finishing in the middle of the pack will not (usually) get you a franchise QB in the draft.

Imo the Bills should bench Josh Allen 2-3 weeks for Case Keenum so as not to risk anything more severe happening to him. We'll see if they do.

But that to me is why paying these QB's these humungous salaries is a big risk

So, with the Colts placing Leonard on IL (must miss at least 4 more weeks), is this a wait-and-see approach to what happens over the next four weeks before calling it a season and rebooting, or are they rebooting now? Either is a wise move. Just asking. There's 10 weeks to evaluate. Leonard needs no evaluation and is the most important person on the franchise as he's likely to be it's best player each of the next five seasons, at least.

How about Geno Smith? Guy had another solid game today, and almost single handedly tried to steal the game late in the 4thQ. I love seeing him finally get another chance and balling out, but it also makes me a little sad to know a large part of his career was wasted on the bench. I have always argued he is one of the best 32 QB's in the NFL....and he is playing like a Top 10 QB in the league this season. I am sure he holds a decent amount of blame for early failures, but I will always believe the biggest problem was going to the Jets when that fat pile of human feces Rex Ryan was the Head Coach.

WVU has had some really good college QB's over the last several decades.....Jeff Hostetler, Major Harris, Marc Bulger, Pat White, etc., but I have always thought Geno was as talented as any of them, and his talents are more NFL level than all of them. I still believe that and Hoss has 2x SB rings, and him and Bulger were NFL Pro Bowlers.

Signature win for the Vikes. Down 10-27, and won 33-30 in OT. Allen was awesome….for three quarters. Then, two interceptions and a fumble in the end zone in 4th Q and OT. Oh And the NFL love the Bills. Refs did all they could to help. Changed a TD catch by Jefferson to non-TD, missed multiple early starts by Buffalo Oline. And then after looking for many minutes at multiple big Vikings plays under two minutes and OT, then don’t review a big Buffalo catch/drop that put them in FG range to tie in regulation. Jets said the same thing after their game.
But the Vikes don’t worry about these crappy breaks. Kevin O’Connell has them ready to play the next play after a bad call. The are really good at the end of games, which is why they are 8-1.
JJ and Dalvin were awesome. Game changing plays.

Do not agree with the San Fran defender getting ejected over that helmet to helmet hit on Justin Herbert.

It was pretty ugly, but Herbert was basically tackled into the other defender who appeared to be trying to lead with his shoulder pads.

Hebert was a runner at that point. Not sure how you’re supposed to be perfect trying to tackle an ever loving target who gets tackled from the other side while you’re also trying to hit him.

1st week - 9 snaps, 2 targets, 2 receptions, 12 yards
2nd week - 28 snaps, 5 targets, 4 receptions, 57 yards, 1 TD, 2 carries, 33 yards.

If the #s arent enough to impress you I challenge you to watch the couple of highlight plays he had. The ball he caught down the sideline in double coverage is just another example of some of the elite skills he possesses.

The facemask directly caused the fumble. If you review the play for a fumble, and you see something illegal that caused the fumble, then it’s not a fumble.
NFL referees had a bad week. What will the NFL do about it? Hollow apologies don’t mean anything. NFL needs to commit to minimum levels of quality. Like out of bounds, # of men on the field, 30 second clock, no breaking the line of scrimmage before the snap for a start. They got these simple things wrong more than 5x in the Vikes- Bills game.

Why? When a Qb takes a knee you can’t tackle him. Murray and Rodgers have done the “quick knee” on mulitiple occasions. I’ve seen Murray even fake it, and when the defenders paused, accelerated around them. Totally unfair in his case, as he’s already so hard to tackle.

Here we go again.

I mentioned after the Watson signing that NFL Owners wanted to shun the Browns and distance themselves from that ridiculous contract. When asked for the source, I actually couldn't find it, but linked an article that I thought was my source, and it was only a "sense" of that writer at the time. I also gleaned from my own feelings from the franchises that it must have credibility, and as it turns out, it seems that there is.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/11/nflpa-alleging-collusion-over-fully-guaranteed-qb-contracts

NFLPA Alleging Collusion Over Fully Guaranteed QB Contracts

November 22nd, 2022 at 10:36pm CST by Adam La Rose

The Browns’ acquisition of Deshaun Watson was the most controversial storyline of the 2022 offseason, in no small part due to the nature of the contract he signed upon being traded to Cleveland. That five-year, $230MM deal was fully guaranteed, leading many to wonder if a new precedent had been set for high-end quarterbacks in future deals. League owners were reportedly upset over the fact that Watson – given the legal battle he was facing at the time over allegations of sexual misconduct which ultimately led to an 11-game suspension to begin his Browns tenure – received such as deal far eclipsing even the one Kirk Cousins signed in Minnesota in 2018 (three years, $84MM) which was also fully guaranteed.

“It’s like, ‘Damn, I wish they hadn’t guaranteed the whole contract.’ I don’t know that he should’ve been the first guy to get a fully guaranteed contract,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in March. “To me, that’s something that is groundbreaking, and it’ll make negotiations harder with others.”

Remarks such as those have led the NFLPA to accuse the league of collusion on the matter of full guarantees, as detailed by The Athletic’s Kayln Kahler (subscription required). The union has filed a system arbitration proceeding which will be overseen by Christopher Droney (Twitter links via Mark Maske of the Washington Post). Such action will take place confidentially, which at this point obscures what direct evidence (if any) the NFLPA has to make its case.

In the months following the Watson deal, two mega-contracts were handed out: Kyler Murray‘s extension in Arizona (five years, $230.5MM), and Denver’s long-term investment in Russell Wilson (five years, $245MM). While each pact contains sizeable guarantees, neither come near the figure the Browns handed Watson. As a result, it appeared that the league was making a concerted effort to distance themselves from Cleveland and make the Watson deal an outlier. Per a league memo distributed to team owners and executives in the wake of the allegations, the NFLPA is arguing that “[t]he expectation was that fully guaranteed contracts would now become the competition driven norm for the top players in the League, including quarterbacks, negotiating new contracts,” and that “NFL owners and/or League executives discussed not agreeing to any additional player contracts with fully guaranteed salaries” at the August owners meeting.

Most notably, the union is requesting that the arbitrator allow “certain quarterbacks who have been adversely affected by the collusive agreement” to exit their existing contracts. That could include passers like Murray and Wilson, but also Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. The latter is technically scheduled for free agency this coming offseason, but is universally expected to receive the franchise tag in the absence of a long-term deal. The sticking point in negotiations from the summer was the degree to which the Ravens would guarantee Jackson’s second contract.

If successful, the union would achieve an entirely unprecedented feat in having existing contracts voided and/or damages awarded. For that reason (in addition to the lack of known concrete evidence in their case), Kahler’s sources are highly skeptical that such action will take place. As one executive stressed, league owners remain adamant that the NFL does not follow other major North American sports leagues in guaranteeing player contracts in full across the board. While this news is certainly noteworthy, it is not entirely surprising. While speaking to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk last month, outgoing NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith spoke about the potential for legal action on the point of collusion.

“Sometimes your best evidence comes from people who make comments that look like they are careless but are actually rooted in something factual,” he said against the backdrop of the league’s fall meetings taking place. “I am being a little bit cagey, but anytime we see what has been occurring in the markets and we hear comments that validate those concerns, we have never shied away from exercising both our legal rights and our collective bargaining rights to protect our players and people shouldn’t be surprised if something happens in the near future.”

I can gaurantee you one thing, Wilson and Murry won't be looking to get out of their contracts, while the NFL will point to those contracts as to why they shouldn't be giving that much gauranteed money to anyone (maybe Burrow, Herbert and Mahomes, but that's it).

Kingspoint

I wonder if Zach Wilson's problems have been more related to Cedric Ogbuehi being his Starting Right Tackle in recent weeks, while his Starting Left Tackle, Mekhi Becton is out for the season and another Starter, George Fant is on IR. Duane Brown had been out, but returned, while Conor McDermott, who filled in for a couple of these Starters was just signed by the Patriots off of the Jets' practice squad (ensuring that Ogbuehi will have to continue to Start...nice move Belichick). New England did lose two Starters (Andrews and Wynn) to their own O-Line in the win over the Jets.

White will start the rest of the season. After it's made clear that it's Mike White's team for the rest of the season, Wilson will get invited back to the team as the 2nd backup, not active on gamedays.

That final series by The Colts was some spectacularly bad clock management by Jeff Saturday. Like, Marvin Lewis even thinks that was bad, bad.

Your QB takes a huge sack, you’ve got 3 timeouts, but you let the clock run. Then you run the ball. Continue to let the clock run. What the heck?

Falcons coach Arthur Smith said "We'll evaluate everything. Every job," when asked about the possibility of Desmond Ridder getting some starts. The Falcons are on bye in Week 14. While this isn't exactly a smoking gun saying that a change is coming, Falcons beat writers have pointed out that this is a very different tone than Smith usually takes with them when asked about Ridder. Pressed, Smith said that "We have to get over this hump. We have to look at everything. There will be changes made.” Ridder has not taken a snap yet this season and it would appear to be pretty important for the Falcons to get some kind of evaluation on him before moving on to next season's draft.

Lot's of injuries to the Ravens and Dolphins this Sunday, not to mention the 49ers, too.

Dolphins lose their Starting RT, who was placed on IR. Tua left the game early, but appears to be ready for next week. No guarantee that LT Armstead will be back for Week 15. Their Offense was a disaster without him against the 49ers. Waddle injured and did not return vs the 49ers.

LB Patrick McQueen, the Ravens best Defensive player, screamed in agony and left the game against the Broncos. It appears the Ravens dodged a bullet with Jackson as far as a season-ending injury is concerned, but he'll certainly miss next week's game vs the Steelers.

49ers can handle the loss of Garrapolo, but it can't be understated that he isn't replaceable for playoff games. It's one thing to come into a game for Mr. Irrelevant when the other team hasn't prepared for you. It's quite another to see what he does next week when a Defense has set up a gameplan against you. It's quite another with the pressure of a playoff game. 49ers had been looking like an NFC Championship Game likely participant, but not anymore as the Vikings, Eagles and Cowboys are all better right now after the loss of Garrapolo. They still win the Division and are the likely #3 Seed thanks to the incompetent NFC South, but they will have to get by the Seahawks, Giants or Washington in the 1st Round with a Rookie at QB. Each offers a different challenge for the Niners.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but...if any game was rigged it was that one and those two plays you mentioned are exhibit 1 and 2. The RB runs out of bounds untouched short of the first down and then they throw an incomplete pass. That's how you fix a game

Head-scratching. It wasn't the G.M. who didn't want to pay A. J. Brown his money.

Anyone who can get what they've gotten out of Tannehill is a genius.

It also wasn't predictable when Henry would have his last great season before he fell off of a cliff, though it seems like he's been on borrowed time for four seasons. It was like trying to predict when Lynch would fall off the cliff.

I can't think of a G.M. who would entertain making that trade without a direct command from Ownership to do so.

I read some Titans forums during the game after the vicious hit and knockout of Byrd and nearly everyone was mad as hell about Brown being let go, even though Byrd proved himself hanging onto the ball after the hit. Fans were ready with pitchforks, and Frankenstein (the G. M.) got the blame from Ownership when it was Dr. Frankenstein (the Ownership) who should have gotten the axe (in the movie both did, but Frankenstein survived, as will this G.M. who was fired, who did a great job with the Titans).

You said it yourself...an average team with a mediocre QB that was the #1 seed last season while coming up with some unexpected playoff wins the last few years along with incredible regular season wins. They are still set to win their Division this season. I know....that's not saying much, but they aren't winning it the way that Tampa Bay is winning theirs. That is a great G. M. who can accomplish this.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Falcons will start Desmond Ridder in Week 15 against the Saints. With the Falcons on a bye this week, Ridder will have some extra time to prepare for his first career start. Head coach Arthur Smith left open the possibility of Ridder starting after the team's Week 13 loss to the Steelers and now appears to have made the switch. Through the first 13 games of the season, quarterback Marcus Mariota has led the Falcons to a 5-8 record; throwing for 2,219 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for another 84-438-4. The Falcons selected Ridder in the third round of this year's draft after he compiled over 10,000 passing yards and 80 touchdowns during his career at Cincinnati. Ridder will be on the fantasy radar as a low-end QB2 when he suits up in Week 15.
