I don't mind it, because it's nice to have a good bat lower in the order, and it has been working, but is there a reason Steer is arguably our best hitter right now and hitting 7th? Votto and India batting higher is it just because they need the ego boost?

Steer should definitely be higher up in the order. 3 spot? He works the count, good eye/zone read, contact, power. Get that man up to bat more often! Why he is behind Votto who is not getting on base is beyond common sense. It's ridiculous. Bell just plugs the same people in the same spots, it takes weeks even months for him to adjust the line up based on hitters being hot or cold. Votto needs to sit, play him sparingly, see if it gets him going. But don't keep plugging in a guy who isn't able to help the line up. Here ya go David. Your welcome.

I agree with the sentiment here.

When guys like Steer and Benson are this hot and you have been slow to get going of offense, it just makes sense to move them up. Unless you believe that if you change things they will change their plate approach. It's a little perplexing.

Scenario was he was ahead in the count and then was beaten by a swinging bunt….basically meaning that nothing during the AB showed that he was tiring or Nats were on him. I was looking for people on here to get him out of there…and was 50/50 on Bell removing him in that scenario.
