Yes its something Browning did a lot in college throwing it up for grabs to Ross and Pettis and allowing them to make plays...he is really a tailor made QB for someone like Higgins.

Browning talked about getting cut by Minny and how much this win meant to him...

He had been there for 2 years and they cut him off the active roster and they told him to go back to the hotel and wait...said he waited for 2 hrs and finally his agent called and broke the news to him. He said it was really shi%% way to get cut as he had been there for 2 years.

Don’t worry, the Broncos will find a way to lose one of those games. I’m not a Broncos fan, but my son is a die hard fan and it’s tough to watch at times. They’re very good at losing close games.

To me that would be fascinating TV to see guys on the fringe of NFL rosters and follow them throughout the year or training camp.

That is the premise of Netflix's Drive to Survive, at least originally before they turned it into a season retrospective and the Red Bull show. Focus on the drivers from disadvantaged teams trying to scrape together enough results to earn their contact for next season. It's a pressure cooker of a situation, and it made for a fascinating watch.

I just played a scenario where we beat Steelers and Browns and lose to the Chiefs. Assuming a loss by the Jags to the Ravens tonight, we would need a Titans win at home over Jacksonville to get in(assuming the Jags don't falter in wk 16 at TB, in which case we'd be out and the Texans would be in) .We'd be the #6 seed going to #3 Indy. My scenario had Miami winning at home to Buffalo in Week 18. If Buffalo wins that game, my scenario has the Bengals at #7, going to KC. Bottomline, still so many possibilities!

P.S. Thanks for dropping that TD against the Texans, Mr. Boyd.

Last play of the game was a hail mary that was deflected and landed in the lap of a bears player on the ground but he kinda fumbled it and kicked it out of his grasp with his own leg.

This is crazy for me to even compare but one athletic memory of mine that haunts me was when I was playing in a relatively competitive adult flag football league and a similar play transpired and the Hail Mary ball also dropped into my lap (after I was jockeying for it in the air) - I also flubbed it. It was like my brain couldn’t compute and my arms and hands just totally went the wrong way. I guess I can relate is all I’m saying.

I found it, but it's a very specific path. In a different permutation, I even had Miami and Buffalo reaching 11-6 but losing different games and one of them didn't get in (replaced by the Bengals).

I think they go 2-1 down the stretch. They have to win Sat, and I think Pitt is trending in the wrong direction. The KC game will be tough, and while I don't think KC is as good as they have been in the past, its at Arrowhead, and KC will get up to play the Bengals.

The Browns game may be interesting. Its probably best if they win the next two games, get to 11-5 and secure a playoff birth, and then rest their players. I think the Bengals get to 10-7 and will see what happens from there.

Since it’s easier to play QB now I would not be surprised if he is successful just based on their ability to run the ball. They have to get up early and force them to throw. Blitz Rudolph after that. If they let them hang around they will run it on them. Even with Reader they were not doing very well defending it. They need to poach some run defenders from other peoples PS.

That Browns win even with Joe throwing 3 interceptions is such an outlier. You throw 3 interceptions you lose. Bears were up 17-10 and Fields couldn’t even run out of pressure.

That TD by Higgins was one of the savviest plays I've seen in all my years of watching football. Just the presence of mind to not only catch the ball and stay in bounds but to put the ball over the goal line while he was going down.

I took a really deep dive into the Bengals playoff probabilities. I studied an app that calculates a teams playoff chances based on the results of other games. I took every game from now through week 17 and picked a winner and loser in each case. In each case, I made the outcome to be the worst possible scenario for our Bengals. In other words, the teams I picked to win lessened the likelihood of the Bengals playoff hopes. If we beat Pittsburgh, lose to KC, and everything thing else goes into the crapper for us, we will have a slightly less than 1 in 4 chance of making the playoffs going in to Week 18.

But don't despair, Bengals fans, mathematicians don't stop at Week 17. I have some good news. A win over the Browns in Week 18 and our chances go back up to about where they are right now--- 37%. Our playoff hopes will be determined by the outcomes of four games in week 18. Here are those games:

1. Jaguars at Titans

2. Texans at Colts

3. Bills at Dolphins

4. Broncos at Raiders

The Bengals want the home team to win in each of these games(Assuming the Texans beat the Browns this week). Now, there are 16 combinations(2^4) of how those four games can go. For example , if G= Good 4 Bengals ; B= Bad 4 Bengals , then GGGG means all four went in the Bengals favor. GGBB means the first two went the Bengals way but the last two did not. Of these 16 combinations, six of them gets the Bengals into the playoffs: GGGG , GGGB, GGBG, GBGG, BGGG, and BBGG. Notice that five of the six require three of the four games going the Bengals way. Only one, the BBGG, requires just two of the four going in favor of our beloved Black & Orange.

What does this all mean? Short of winning out, the Bengals are going to, most certainly, needs some help in Week 18. The good news is, none of those four games would require a major upset of any sort. Those are all games that could go either way. Also, the teams the Bengals would be rooting for in that quad of games will all be the home teams(unless the Browns beat the Texans this week, in which case we'd want the Texans to win at the Colts in Week 18).

In conclusion ,unless all three of those early games go the Bengals way, it's gonna likely come down to the Broncos at Raiders in determining the Bengals fate. After the Bengals win in the Jungle in Week 18, take off your Bengals gear and put on the Black & Silver paint and become a Raiders fan for three hours!!!

Btw, in my scenario I projected the Texans over the Browns this week. This results in us needing a Colts win at home in Week 18. If, however, the Browns beat the Texans this week, then we will need to root for the Texans to beat the Colts in week 18. I personally like the former scenario better than the latter. I want to be rooting for all four of those home teams in Week 18.

I think it will allow the Bengals to be more cautious with Burrows recovery. I felt like he got rushed back after last years injury. If the Bengals had know Browning was as competent as he was, Burrow might have sat out the first couple games.

If someone makes a ridiculous offer for Browning (like a first round draft pick), I’d certainly consider it. Otherwise, keep Browning. Maybe sign him to a better contract? Not sure about that but something to consider.

If we traded Browning, some team is getting a one year rental, staring calibur QB, on a rookie contract.

Assuming Browning finishes strong, I would think a high 2nd rounder is the least of the offers they should entertain. Otherwise, might as well hang on to him as an insurance policy.

It’s one of Zac’s biggest weaknesses, IMO. They always start the season terribly, and they usually even start terribly in games they win.

Now, it’s also a huge mark in his favor that by and large they’ve been able to rebound and adjust from those awful starts both at the micro and macro level. But if the goal is winning a championship, that has to get cleaned up.

I feel pretty confident in my assessment from the beginning. Obviously I know our guys aren’t gonna tank but injuries were bound to happen and we’re a Reader/Hendrickaon injury from just being BAAAAAD.

We squeaked out a lucky one at Jax. We beat a mediocre Colts team. And vommited out a win against a bad backup QB. It’s gonna be frustrating when an impact player is sitting there at 10 and we’re drafting a backup again next year.

We’re never going to agree on Bates. I think we miss him but not nearly enough to where our defense is worst in league. I said from the beginning that Dax Hill didn’t play much as a rookie for a reason. There was no reason not to get him more plays than what we did. It’s still a little early for him but his first year as starter hasn’t been good. Battle has actually been better. Time wjlk tell though….hes still young.

The NFL is weird. Pittsburgh had looked awful the last few weeks and then they play an excellent game today. The Bengals had pulled off some minor miracles to be at 8-6 going into the game today. But Browning returned to the mean today and looked like a backup QB that he is. Kinda like the Reds this year, at least they made things interesting to watch up to Christmas even with Burrow out.
