RIP Lefty Driesell

It took a long time for old Lefty to get in to the HOF. I was stationed in Laurel, Maryland while Lefty was building the UCLA of the East. Always entertaining to listed to. Here's a very readable article on Driesell.

Time to dust off my Lefty Driesell story. I was going to grad school at James Madison University when Lefty was the coach there. During the summer session I was walking my dog (a basset) across the campus and Lefty came walking up.

He stopped right next to my dog and said, "Hey hound dog, how you doin'?" Then he bent over and gave her a vigorous petting. Due to some combination of surprise, nervousness and excitement my dog reacted by peeing all over his foot. Lefty reacted by saying "Awww, hound dog..." Then he walked off trying to shake his foot dry with each step.
