Minnesota Lynx steal game 1 from the NY Liberty. Down 66-81 with 5:20 left, the Lynx outscored NY 18-3 to go to OT at 84-84. Breanna Stewart missed a game winning FT. In OT, Lynx (Napheesa Collier) scored the last basket of the game to win 95-93. Breanna Stewart missed a contested layup to tie the game at the buzzer. Collier can score (21 pts) and defend (6 blocks) and stayed with a Stewart pretty well all night. 6-21 shooting for Stewart

The NY Liberty took the 2024 WNBA title by winning game 5 67-62 in OT. They shot less than 30% from the field and made 2-23 threes but got to the foul line 25 times, versus the Lynx 8. The Liberty’s two high paid stars and #1 overall draft picks Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu (1-19 from the field for the game and 27% for the series) shot and played so poorly that a third player Jonquel Jones was named series MVP. Oh and also because the best player by far (Napheesa Collier of the Lynx) was on the losing team.
Despite the “talent” advantage that NY had, the two teams were very evenly matched, as four of the five games were decided by a final shot.
I really respect the teamwork and team play the Lynx displayed and I think Napheesa Collier is a star. It was a fun run watching them almost win the title.

Daughter is a huge fan of CC her and I watched a few games and yes they were nail biters for sure each game seemed well played except for the elimination game...both sides looked really gassed. Collier is a heck of a player so I made sure to point her out when she was on the floor.
