Welp, OSU looks very mid again. I’m not jumping ship on Diebler yet like some OSU fans, but the loss to Pitt today looked exactly like a Holtman led Buckeye loss.

The problem is that the whole justification for hiring Diebler instead of doing an actual search was that they had to keep last year's team together... and then several guys transferred anyway. To me they'd need to be a Sweet 16 team this year to justify passing on a chance to get Dusty May.

I kinda think Dusty May told them he wasn’t interested behind closed doors and Diebler was plan B, C, or D.
Why would any legit basketball coach take the OSU job over Michigan job? If you have been to games at both places you know the Michigan bball fanbase blows OSU’s out of the water. I honestly don’t know why any legit established coach would want the OSU job. Worst bball arena in the country and a fanbase that simply does not care about the sport.

Easiest fix on earth would be to renovate St. John and put them back, but they'll never. Suite money is more important.

Nice win against the Kentucky Wildcats! Wife is a Wildcats fan so kind of a rivalry game for us.

They absolutely will not do it, but they should pull the band-aid off and get rid of Diebler now.
I get why they hired him, but this is Holtmann 2.0. The team is the exact same.

I don't know what they do moving forward. I am unsure if Diebler is the guy for the job. It seems like they continue to to the same thing Holtman did, some big early season wins, mid-season swoon, and fighting for their life on the bubble as the season winds down.
The transfer's yet again this year have been pretty meh. I don't know what the deal with Meechie is, but that was a bad deal. The bigs from Duke and UK are pretty average, and the only guy who has given them better value is Parish.
Its yet another season where I like the core guys, Thorton, Royal, and Mobley are the real deal. But they continue to struggle down the stretch as a team.
The thing I had with Thad was it was time for some fresh blood. He had run his course at OSU, and it started to show. But they were a legit top 10-25 program year in year out with only one blimp on that resume until the end of his tenure. I would argue that since Thad left, OSU has had one season (ending in a 15 seeded upset) where they played to OSU's standard.

the transfer bigs are terrible. Stewart has absolutely no touch and for some reason Bradshaw thinks he can shoot.
Parrish is a solid player.
I think Royal and Thorton are definitely good but I am not sold on Mobley yet, he really impressed me earlier this year and I was singing his praises, however, in big 10 play he tends to get lost and muscled off the ball. He cannot do anything off the dribble.
