I'm guessing Lehigh doesn't put much into their baseball program. They gave up 20 runs in the 1st inning on 3 hits. This was ugly even for little league

Lehigh set an NCAA record for most runs in the top of the 1st inning…

Here’s how it happened

That is libel against mighty Lehigh! Why, the mighty Mountain Haws SCORED 20 in the first last night and only gave up 6 runs all night in a 38-6 nailbiter. The object of your scorn here should be Fang Mitchell's Coppin State Eagles.

Coppin is actually a respectable 7-11 in their league (Northeast Conference). but they're 0-13 in the non-con. They went to Norman, OK for a weekend showdown with the Sooners in February and were swept by a combined score of 57-1.

Coppin still has home series to play against New Haven and Delaware State, who are a combined 7-52 on the year, so there are still some wins out there for the Eagles this year!

For the record, Lehigh is 10-24, 4-12 in the Patriot League. They have a 27-3 loss to Miami (FL) on their resume.

I went to the JMU-UVA game last week in Charlottesville (the Hoos have a nice ballpark, btw). JMU got the upset win, 8-7 in 10 innings, but the game was borderline unwatchable. 13 pitchers used, 14 combined walks, 7 HBP, 3 wild pitches, and 4 errors, plus an absolute lovefest with the bunt by both teams. I lost track of how many bunt attempts there were. It was like the coaches couldn’t give the outs away fast enough.

Still, always good to get a win over UVA, despite another lackluster season for the Dukes at 16-19 overall, 6-9 in the Sun Belt.

CJ McCollum is embarrassed.

Nevermind. It wasn't Lehigh that gave up 20 Runs.

The Bearcats have strung together 8 wins in a row that has pushed their record for 2026 to 35-17. Seems like they have a solid chance to go Dancing this year.

UCLA is 26-1 in the Big-10.

Oregon came very close to snapping UCLA’s perfect weekend series record. The Bruins run-ruled the Ducks 11-1 in the opener, but Oregon won the second game 9-6. The Ducks led Sunday’s finale by five runs heading to the bottom of the sixth before UCLA scored the final eight runs of the game. The Bruins have now set the record for most consecutive weeks at No. 1 to open a season

There's no way to judge Oregon State. They've only had two games against Top-25 teams.

Tennessee the first team bounced out of the regionals. Big game for UC tonight.

This is the part of the weekend where the mid major pitching depth usually does them in. Milwaukee is gonna need to keep scoring 15 runs per game.

St. Mary's and Cal Poly squaring off in the UCLA Regional. Crazy that UCLA went out like that. Probably should have been 0-2.

It sucks how conference realignment because of a completely different sport (football) has ruined Oregon State's baseball program.

I miss the days when you didn't need to be a money-printing power conference program to be an absolute monster in college baseball (Cal State Fullerton, Wichita State and Rice come to mind).

For the first time in the super regional era, since 1999, all 8 teams from the previous CWS failed to reach super regionals.

There were 10 non-power schools in the top-40 of the RPI this year so I'd say there's more parity than many of the other major sports. But to your point, those non-power teams seem to be one-offs and switch out every year. Probably harder than ever to sustain a midmajor program like the ones you mentioned for multiple seasons.

Cal Poly, Little Rock, and St John's advance to super regionals so at least three of the final 16 schools will be from non-power leagues. Milwaukee and Troy could make it five but feels like they are pretty big long shots.

Oregon State disagrees with that statement.

What does Oregon State disagree with? This is their second year out of the big time college conferences, and they just got finished having to travel to someone else's regional. Time will tell whether they can keep up their level.

The entire statement.

"money-printing power conference" was only a couple of schools in their conference...Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington. Oregon State and Washington State were always low-budget universities, while Oregon State spent much less than Washington State. They still do.

Oregon State has been one of the five best schools in the United States over the last 30 years when it comes to NCAA baseball and consistency. They are easily the best program in the United States over the last 30 years based on dollars spent on baseball, sports facilities, coaches salaries per results. There is no close second.

Who cares about 30 years ago within the context of this conversation? Oregon State is now going into the Mountain West-Lite. Lets see if they can keep up what they were doing 5 years ago. They just got bounced in the first round of the tourney.

That's definitely the point here. There have been other programs just as strong as Oregon State (or very close so we're not picking nits), and none of them have been able to maintain a program in the current era (or even the last era before NIL/transfer portal) outside of the power leagues. I'll be happy for Oregon State if they can manage to do it, but they'd be the first.

Yep, I mean, if you are one of the best pitchers in the country in 2027 are you going to Texas and make hundreds of thousands of dollars while playing in the SEC or are you going to Oregon State where you are probably going to make peanuts and play in the Mountain West.

The biggest issue will be the same one they have always dealt with...less money to spend per player/coach. They've always had to be superior everywhere else, which they have always been.

Playing better competition will happen next season after scrambling the last two years to schedule games.

Already have had many choose Oregon State in this scenario, and this will continue. They are choosing the superior program.

Country Roads Take me home to the place we belong... OMAHA Mountain Mamas bring the pepperoni rolls!

WVU advances to Omaha crushing Cal Poly 14-1 and 17-1. I'm glad we got a bit of a reprieve after all the 9th inning magic against Kentucky.

Wren Baker should be the highest paid AD in the Big 12. The only reason I haven't totally blasted Rich Rod is every other coaching decision Wren's made seems to work.
