I know

I'm sheltered :help:
It ain't going to last forever son.

Carpe diem! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Seize each day and cherish them dearly. Every day opportunities await us and we must decide whether to take the chance or play it safe.

You can do it. Like Whitman says "That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse".

Does anyone here listen to the group Massive Attack? I recently bought one of their CD's: Mezzanine after hearing a song on that CD, Teardrop, and I love the whole CD. Not sure why I had never heard of them. Guess I've been spending too much time being an employee and a Dad that I'm losing my grip on being "cool." Just wondering if anyone listens to them regularly and if so, could recommend another one of their CD's.

Their most recent album (100th Window) isn't very good. I got turned on to them after picking up a vinyl with sone tracks they had done with Portishead... anyway, their first album (Blue Lines) is my favorite. Mezzanine woudl be next, and Protection 3rd. If you can find a copy of the track Karmacoma that they did with Portishead you should DL it. It's truly rawkin.

So the using-up of the last vacation days has been decided. I will be taking off the last week of the year and going somewhere for New Year's Eve. We have to decide whether we are going skiing in the Carolinas or going to do I-don't-know-what in Florida.

Florida would be less expensive (we know people down there), but I've never been skiing before (save for one sad, sad snowboarding excursion which I've almost managed to block out of my memory).

Yeah, the directions didn't tell me not to use the electric mixer but it didn't tell me to us it, yo. The dough was so thick that it was really tough to mix and the mixer just stopped in the middle of mixing the dough and it kinda got up inside the mixer, yo. I think it worked the day after that but I can see where a bread maker would come in handy, yo. And it really smells good cooking it and it tastes a lot better than store bought bread, yo.

Queen is exposed to Highland game
By Anil Dawar, Daily Mail
10 November 2004
Having one's picture taken sitting next to the Queen is usually no s******ing matter.

Particularly when it's an official photograph of the battalion in full uniform and Her Majesty is there in her role as commander of the armed forces.

But Colonel Simon West didn't appear to be taking the occasion too seriously yesterday.

In his cap, jacket and spats, his hands on his knees and his ankles crossed, he sat proudly in the front row of the 1st Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, next to the Queen.

But unlike his comrades, he hadn't taken the time to adjust his sporran and kilt for decency.

So the kilt flapped about for all the world to see. And judging by the grin on his face, the colonel knew exactly what he was doing.

Onlookers said the Queen didn't notice what was happening next to her. But she does not exactly appear comfortable in the photograph.

She was visiting the battalion at Howe Barracks in Canterbury, Kent, to present medals after their recent tour of duty in Iraq.

Puffy, with you being a lawyer and all, surely there is some "clause" in the above statement that could get me some "naked time" with them. Even though I voted for Bush, I am genuinely scared of the direction of our country over the course of the next four years...so I meet that clause of the statement.

Well, I guess if there is someone who voted for Bush solely based on Iraq and the War on Terror, thereby voting for Bush because they did not want to change courses midstream, but that person is still fearful of what damage Bush is going to put on the deficit, the job market, and the burdens of the middle class, while increasing the size of the lower class and increasing the poverty levels of this country, that person might deserve some "naked time" with the Bush twins.

But there are so many like me, truely disullisioned, we are the peeps who deserve the real relevant "naked time" with the Bush girls. Yo.

Since I am in the middle of gutting my bathroom and re-doing it, I called a landscape company that one of my sister's friends owns to clean up my yard (leaves only). I talked to him and he said that he'd give me a deal, do the work and send me the bill when it was done. I got the bill the other day. $220.75.

I have the opportunity to work from home. The group that I work with is geographically dispersed (Calif., Mass., Minn., Ohio, Col., UK) so we do everything over the net and phones. As long as I have a fat pipe into the Internet and a VPN and a phone, it doesn't matter where I am.

But I have this funny notion of keeping some separation between work and home (not to mention I'd probably end up watching ESPNNEWS all the time or soaps like Creek).

So I work out of a sales office here in Blue Ash now. Nice digs. Lots of marble and glass.

The worst part is parking in the parking lot. All the sales guys drive real nice BMWs, Mercedes, Lexis, etc. (storage sales pays well). And then I drive up in either my 1999 Altima or my son's Saturn. Oh well, they're both paid for.

I have worked from home for 98% of the past 12 years, when we had a office in Atlanta I would go there every month for a week or two, for about 5 years... there I had to work in an office.

I have a TV in my office, never watch it except for sports though, in fact with no Hockey I just leave it in front of my exercise bike now that baseball is gone.

I leave in the middle of the day to go on rides, but more or less its a stay in the basement (in my office) job, phone calls and file transfers are my interactionc with people.

Frankly at this point I can't imagine doing the whole office thing.

I don't know if they're still in business, but I used to love the way the Roy Rogers restaurants greeted and said good bye to customers.

When you walked in the door, they'd say "howdy partner". Leaving, they'd say "happy trails".

The bee, er I mean yeast, yeah yeast, just got here. 100% intact, no leakage!! You are one heck of a packer.

Thanks again. You totally RAWK. Yo.Ah, the miracle of bubble wrap! I hope your friend lets you assist with the testing of those samples if you want to.

Did you notice the big sloshing noise that the package would make when you tilted it back and forth? Bubble wrap is apparently not a good sound-proofing material. :)

whassa 'sparks?'My first thought when I think of Sparks is of that evergreen band that appeared in the 1976 movie "Rollercoaster." Kind of the SoCal version of "Cheap Trick." Lead guitarist is this guy. The puppet he's holding is of his brother, who is the lead singer.

I'm about to call a gym to see what their membership rates are. I'm curious to see if they'll give them to me over the phone, or if they'll try their best to get me to come in to talk to a membership sales person.

The last time I did this (thought about joining a gym), I was so discouraged with the whole process that I gave it up altogether. Maybe it will be better this time around?

Well, there goes that gym. I had a feeling. :thumbdown

They would not give me any direct rates over the phone, and asked me about 10 times if I could come in tonight for a tour. I told them I don't want to bother with a tour unless I know how much it is -- I've belonged to gyms before, I know what they look like. Then they said they'd give me a range of prices: $39-$60 a month, depending on what plan you sign up for; membership fees range from $1 to $150. I asked if they had anything shorter than a 1-year membership, and she said "Yes, we can sell a one month membership, for $85, but we never sell those because they're so expensive."

Whatever gym people!

However, I didn't give them my right phone number, cause I know they'll call and harass me.

Apparently there is a gym at work, though I have never seen it and I don't even know where it's located. And I think "gym" is a loose term, as it's probably just a treadmill, bike and all-in-one weight machine. But I don't want to use that gym, because I have NO interest in working out with my co-workers, especially any managers.

Plus, I don't want to work out directly before my shift, or during my shift, or directly after it. And I'm not up for driving into work at noon so I can work out, and then go back to work later.

Does that answer your question? ;)

That breakup killed me. I was living with the guy ... we had been dating for more than three years. It was no picnic to be like "Yeah, my boyfriend -- who I live with -- is now dating one of his personal training clients."

But, such is life, I suppose. They're actually still together and have bought a house together and are going to be married any day now, I'm sure. So, good for them. :) I hope they still workout together and enter body-building contests together and have tons of babies that will one day workout with them too.

Mounted on three gun-turret style legs, the Room Defender will protect your privacy from prying snoopers. It has a motion sensor alarm, so when someone enters your room it will give a verbal warning to the intruder, then fire a warning shot (in the form of a foam disc).

You can also program it to shoot in 'warning shot mode' where it will fire off a 1/4 of its payload, 'ambush mode' will fire off half the magazine, or 'assault mode' when it will empty it's breach completely at the unsuspecting intruder. It makes great Robocop type noises on start-up, activation and shut down, and comes with a remote so you can program and control it from anywhere in your room.
