Duke has never lost at Cameron when I've attended a game there.... granted I'm sure you're all thinking "Duke never loses at Cameron" but you should all know that a friend of mine called my cell phone offering me tickets for the Georgia Tech game last year. I didn't check my voicemail (silly me) until halfway through the game, thus I did not attend. And guess what happens? They lose. I take personal responsibility for that loss.

I would also like to add that the Reds have a stellar record when I attend. This year they were 2-0, last year I did not attend any games, the year before that they were 1-1, the year before that again did not attend any games, and the year before that they were 5-1, making my record over the past few years 8-2. That's an .800 winning percentage. The Reds have played around .450 most of the time. Coincidence? I think not.

A friend of mine finds out if he gets the Chief's position or just the Interium Chief title for his department. The trustees of the township he works for started their meeting at 7:30, he still isn't home, his cell phone is still off. I'm probably more nervous than he is. I have had a lot of talks with him the past couple of weeks. I even managed to meet with him this afternoon to wish him some luck.

Ok, so I was minding my own business, flipping though the channels, when I stumbled onto tonight's Smallville.

Now, I'm a comicbook fan, but for some reason I've never watched the show. I stopped on the show because I heard a voice coming from my tv that I was not expecting to hear. A voice from the past. The voice of ZOD~! HOLY NEGATIVE ZONE! GENERAL ZOD IS KAL'S FATHER!!!!

Terrance Stamp, who played General Zod in the first two Superman films, is playing Jor-El, and nobody told me!

GAAAHHH!!!

YOU. WILL. KNEEL. BEFORE. ZOD

Is that show actually any good? I used to love the comic books and the Reeve movies, but I've never been able to bring myself to watch Lois and Clark or Smallville

Well, I am not an O'Brien fan, but I'm not posting on that thread because I just refuse to believe any rational person could head into a baseball season with Wilson as their number 1 followed by Hudson, Hancock, Claussen and Harang and think that it is enough to win more than 74 games. He cannot be that clueless - he could assemble a bullpen of Eckersley, Bruce Sutter, Lee Smith, Dave Righetti, Randy Myers and Mariano Riveria and still not win 85 games.

Nope, nope, I refuse to believe it is anything more than him not tipping his hand (even though the whole world knows the Reds need pitching to compete)

I'm fine!
Just got home and heard about it myself actually, I was down on campus at a bar and some friends' house all night, we were playing Madden so we didnt have the news on...

This is freaky, I live probably 5-10 minutes from this place. NBC4 is saying 5 dead now, including Dimebag Darrell, the former guitar player from Pantera. I used to be quite a fan of Pantera back in high school, and I saw them 3 times in concert. And have been to the Alrosa Villa on many occasion, I dont know If I could ever go back knowing what happened there tonight. Another band member was killed as well, but they havent released his name.

I 'm just in shock. You never think that something like a mass killing could happen so close to you, and in the fashion that it happened in? too scary.

I don't think so either. From accounts on the news, it sounded like a warzone down there. Apparently, "officer needs assistance" calls went out as well. There's a lot of confusion that's going to have be sorted out before we really know what happened. What a tragic night.

Ugh, it's not fun in the slightest way. Nobody likes Calc. Just wait until you have to hit the higher levels of it.

It was Calculus I. Mainly dealt with differentials, limits, and some integration. I felt I had a good grasp on things going into the exam, but the problems that he threw at us were harder than anything that we had even seen in the class. I'm truly hoping that I did much better than I think I did, because I can't afford a C (it would be my first ever) on my record when I apply to medical school.

Actually yes.. We participated in a 25 bands in 25 hours thing, where this studio opened up and got 25 bands to come in and record a song in one hour, and the songs are part of a local music compilation cd being released this friday at Little Brothers.. We are playing at 11 for like 45 minutes, admission is 7 bucks and you get a free copy of the cd.

So it's like a 'tangelo?'

I knew a girl in Junior High named Tangelo. Or was that part of someone's stand-up routine? Girls named "Tangelo and Orangelo."

I think it was a stand-up bit. Man. My memory stinks and I've never done any heavy drugs to blame it on. Unless I don't remember doing them, because my memory stinks. Oh, what a vicious circle. :MandJ:

History of Clementines

From ancient times Clementines have been called the crown jewels of the mandarin family.

The name mandarin applies to a number of citrus fruits that have, among their distinguishing characteristics, a peel that is easily pulled from the flesh. Sometimes called zipper skinned, such fruits were once referred to as kid-glove oranges, because it was said that a lady could eat the fruit without soiling her hands.

Some authorities believe that the modern Clementine is identical to the Canton variety that existed before the 20th century in China. Others think it was an accidental hybrid planted by Father Clement Rodier around 1900 in the garden of his orphanage in Misserghin, near Oran, Algeria. This fruit was later introduced into the United States and grown at the Citrus Research Center in Riverside, California, as early as 1909.

However, the bright orange Clementine from Spain is more strongly flavored than the domestic varieties. It has thinner membranes, more plentiful juice and a refreshingly sweet zip. It is also virtually seedless, making it particularly popular with children.

Glad things are settling down a bit RFS. Sounded like things got a bit hectic there for a while (and it is "do or do not, there is no try").

Roy is a sucker for babies. He loves babies. Going to a Catholic church, we see babies all the time. Roy gets all dewy-eyed and gives the spousal unit the eyebrow waggle. Spousal unit gives a "keep that damn thing *far* away from me" look.

We buy clementines all the time. By the flat. My wife keeps a lot of fruit around. Mosty apples, bananas, grapes, and whatever is on sale. Roy is partial to pomegranates.

Z, meaningless casual flings are a good way to get over someone. Roy was a master at rebound girls. Just make sure you get names right. Roy was bad at names. He hit a string of girls with names that started with L and sometimes got the wrong name at a really bad time. Jeez-oh-whiz is that the bad thing to do.

I went over and looked at that thread. Wowser. I think we need the Super Fund to clean up that toxic waste site.

And even *I* know who Usher is.

Song in my head. So Christmasy.

Life is so strange when its changin', yes indeed
Well I've seen the hard times and the pressure's been on me
But I keep on workin' like the workin' man do
And I've got my act together, gonna walk all over you

Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back my bullets

Sweet talkin' people done ran me out of town
And I drank enough whiskey to float a battleship around
But I'm leavin' this game one step ahead of you
And you will not hear me cry 'cause I do not sing the blues

Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Oh, put 'em back... where they belong

Been up and down since I turned seventeen
Well I've been on top, and then it seems I lost my dream
But I got it back, I'm feelin' better everyday
Tell all those pencil pushers, better get out of my way

Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around, 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Oh put 'em back where they belong
Gimme back my bullets

Hummmm....

I believe it's time to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with the spousal unit.

My wife did this to me a few weeks ago. I had been working on the downstairs bathroom (stripping wallpaper, spackling/priming/painting/rewallpapering, tearing out sink and toilet and putting new ones in, new light fixtures, etc.). Working my ass off much in the way you are, lots of late nights, weekends, blah blah.

About 9:00 on a Sat. night and I've been at it since about 8 AM. My wife hollers from the family room "can you go pick up Jen?". I say "busy, can't you?". She says "my book is good, I don't want to put it down".

Very soon after, a dusty, sweaty, paint-speckled, red, and angry face shows up by the reader. And let's the reader know this was a bad answer.

It also would mean that my plan of being able to sleep past 7am on the weekends is put on hold another 7-10 years...
RL, I hate to take the red off your candy, but by the time you get there, you *can't* sleep much past 7:00 AM.

By nature, I'm a night owl. The earliest I got up on the weekends was noon. But life came and tapped me on the shoulder and said "you know that way you are? well, you can't be that way any more". So I got used to getting up early.

Now that my kids are big, sleeping in to me is 7:30. And even then, I've been laying in bed for about 15 minutes thinking about putting the moves on my wife.

I'm thinking from this post that you want to nominate someone from this board, nay, I shall narrow it down even more, someone from the "heterosexual" thread the jerk of the week?? Am I right, or am I way off base??

Bad news: I can't feel my nose.

Chip, I had to go back for part 2 of deep cleaning. Last time they did the lower left side of my mouth, this time they did the upper left side. Then I go back later this month, and that time they'll do the whole right side. After that, I'll have one more appointment, which will be for a regular surface cleaning.

Does it ache from the filling? Or the shot? Both?

My jaw won't ache after the novicane wears off. The deep cleaning is just up under my gums. (And even my gums didn't hurt after the last time!) Actually, as much as I dislike the idea of going to the dentist, this dentist really and truly is wonderful.
