Back in 1976 when we all had a touch of Philadelphia Freedom I caught Elton at the Riverfront Coliseum (Firststar) Sat in the penalty box.

It RAWKED..... During this song fog filled the stage and Elton (pre diva) tore it upo like nothing I've seen before.
Saw Elton either in the fall of '73 or spring of '74 (I know it was my junior year at OSU). The show was at St. Johns Arena.

I hadn't heard Goodbye Yellow Brick road yet so the show blew me away (don't remember if it had been released or not). I was like "what is this?!?!".

Absolutely blew the doors off the place. I was in the upper balcony at St. Johns and it was literally bouncing and swaying. Great show.

My brother started taking Spanish this year (8th grade). Well, the class actually started when they got back from Christmas break, so he's just learning early stuff.

Anyway, I called my parents' house last night and my brother answered. It went like this:

Him: Hello?
Me: Hey, how are you?
Him: Hola! Como estas?
Me: Bien, y tu?
Him: What?
Me: I said 'Bien, y tu?'
Him: Yeah, I don't know that yet.

Cracked me up. This will be interesting though. I don't speak Spanish all that well, but when he learns more of it I think we'll be able to speak it in front of our parents and drive them crazy. Yes, I'm actually 12 years old. ;)

WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee. Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box. Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week. Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl. And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.

WOMEN'S REVENGE
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse. "So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked. "No," she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."

WIFE vs. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?"
"Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!

It's your run of the mill banquest center. Not a dive, but it ain't the Ritz, either.

Well then, I'm afraid that Coolidge, Wall, Womslet and Lombard LLC will just have to live without my presence there next week. 'Cuz the Zom only attends the swankiest functions (if they're about something boring, and hey... they're lawyers).

Thanks.

I concur with Rosie about facials. Especially if you get a massage with the facial (most come included). It's so relaxing, especially the steam application. I try to get one every month, for general skincare and just for the relaxation experience. Extractions aren't always fun, but I see them as a means to an end.

A lot of guys get facials too. Even though I was joking with Craig yesterday, I think it's very attractive when a guy takes care of himself (the metrosexual type);)

The Secret of a long and happy marriage

A couple was celebrating their Golden wedding anniversary on the beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Their domestic tranquility had long been the talk of the town. "What a peaceful & loving couple". A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage.

"Well, it dates back to our honeymoon in America," explained the man. "We visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona and took a trip down to the bottom of the canyon by horse. We hadn't gone too far when my wife's horse stumbled and she almost fell off. My wife looked down at the horse and quietly said, "That's once."

We proceeded a little further and the horse stumbled again, this time causing her to drop her water. Once more my wife quietly said, "That's twice. "

We hadn't gone a half-mile when the horse stumbled for a third
time. My wife quietly removed a revolver from her purse and shot the horse dead.

I shouted at her, "What's wrong with you, Woman! Why did you shoot the poor animal like that? Are you crazy??"

She looked at me, and quietly said, "That's once."

"And from that moment we have lived happily ever after".

So, my job has been a living hell the past month. No Fun At All.

Today, we have a quarterly all-hands, all-company meeting. One of those web meeting type things.

There were some slides that I send my boss's boss a couple weeks back about the project I'm on, what it does, how it works, recommendations, futures, etc.

I'm sitting here drinking my Soup At Hand, half-way watching the slides and listening, when all of a sudden, there are some very famliar slides on the browser.

Roy sits bolt upright, eyes widen in horror, blood turns to ice, bowels get loose, and he says some really bad words. Roy has had no warning or inkling that this was to occur.

Exec VP then proceeds to explain my project to the whole company (20K+ people), talks about me, my stellar effort, and what a bang-up job I've done.

I've gotten about 50 emails saying "good job" from pretty senior folks.

My nervous system is still trying to recover. I'm twitching. I'm going to pay a visit to Jack when I get home. Skip the glass and hit the bottle directly.

Jesus Christ.

Bill Simmons is one of the few writers that can make me laugh out loud when I read some of his stuff...

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/050121

"Funniest Phone Call: My Mom

She called me during the weekend to ask why Randy Johnson was called "The Big Unit," saying, "I don't get it; why would somebody be nicknamed after the size of their penis? Why is this allowed? I'm not going to be able to watch him pitch now, I'm going to be frightened that something will fly out." When I responded that it was just a nickname and probably had nothing to do with his locker room prowess, she said, "Well, why would you want a nickname that makes you sound like a penis? Who would do that to themselves?"

(You know it's a good weekend when you get to hear your mom say the word "penis" two times without wanting to light yourself on fire.)"

And

"A classic collection of coaches: Andy Reid looks like the star of a CBS sitcom where the portly guy is married to an improbably hot chick; Mora looks like one of those clean-cut porn stars who isn't quite reliable enough to get his own one-on-one scene; Bill Belichick dresses like the lead singer of an '80s cover band; and Bill Cowher looks so much like Sergeant Slaughter, you keep waiting for the Iron Sheik to attack him. Just a fantastic group. If only we could get Bill Parcells' body involved somehow."

Did anyone else find it amusing earlier today, when Puffy was like "Yeah, I feel like crap right now and I'm getting ready to go out, so I don't know when I'll post the interview"?
Puffy is weird like that ;)

Well, I'm dusting this pop stand...

Wish me luck. Volleyball in Clifton tonight and then gotta get Zach to Madeira HS at 7:45 AM tomorrow for his SAT. Jen has the PSAT at Mason Middle School but that will probably get cancelled. I don't think my son's SAT will get cancelled though.

And I think our winter hike at Withrow Nature Reserve is toast too. I think some hardy souls will show up, but the weather sounds just a little too buckaroo for me. Too bad, its a nice park. They call it the Wedding Setting because of all the weddings they have there.

Of course this is nothing like that, but it's an image I will never forget. When I broke my leg and was sitting in the middle of the street while the EMT's did the air splint and stuff, I looked up at the house and could see creek jr in the window with tears streaming down his face and he just kept saying "mommy, mommy". Poor mr creek was trying to calm him down and then check on me. Finally my mom got to our house just as they were ready to put me in the ambulance, so he calmed down then (so did creek jr ;) ).

But I'm with you, RL, tears me apart to see kids in traumatic situations.
