Why is it that when someone says Best picture ever, I get a red 'x'.

Oh, and I'm 5 minutes behind on the Mental Midget Award so here is the question:

What was the name of the leader of the local gang that Beavis and Butthead always wanted to hang with?

Good luck to all.

oh yeah REO too. that is a guilty pleasure.

we almost got kicked out of a campsite once for singing this one too loud around the campfire. (i have a friend who knows the lyrics to everything)

TAKE IT ON THE RUN
REO Speedwagon

Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around
They say you got a boy friend
You're up there every weekend
They're talkin' about you and it's bringin' me down

But I know the neighborhood
And talk is cheap when the story is good
And the tales grow taller on down the line
But I'm telling you, babe
That I don't think it's true, babe
And even if it is keep this in mind

{Refrain}
You take it on the run baby
If that's the way you want it baby
Then I don't want you around
I don't believe it, Not for a minute
You're under the gun so you take it on the run

You're thinking up your white lies
You're putting on your bedroom eyes
You say you're coming home but you won't say when
But I can feel it coming
If you leave tonight keep running
And you need never look back again

{Refrain x 3}

Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin' around

My favorite is 157 Riverside Avenue.

We flew into town on sunday, had to find a place by monday
Tried bridgeport and westport, ’til we found a place that we thought would do
157 riverside avenue.

Saugatuck river’s flowin’, mother nature’s colors were showin’
So cold, so rainy, we couldn’t help feelin’ blue
Not enough time, too many things to do.

We met a young girl on main street, wanted to just pass her by
She was homely, so lonely, she said, can I make love to you.
We shouted 157 riverside avenue.

It’s over, miss lena, we’re leaving. such a pleasant stay, I must say.
So nice, so easy, we hate to say goodbye to you
At 157 riverside avenue.

Don't say that Creek. Totally serious. I had that feeling twice. First time I just started crying at work for no reason ... my grandmother died right at that moment. The second time my brother was being held at gunpoint in a convenience store. I actually dreamed it while it was going on. The only difference was that it was a pistol in my dream and a sawed shotgun for real. My mother woke up the same night and for no reason went around the house to look out all the windows. Something she's never done. I believe in weird mojo.

I hate that feeling... Only had it once in my life, which is odd considering I've lost so many people close to me. Anyway, I was in the shower after basketball practice my junior year in HS, singing boisterously as usual, when I started to picture a funeral and people hugging me. I was creeped out beyond belief, and when I stepped out of the shower and glanced out the window, my gaze fell upon my neighbor's house, all covered in snow and with the Christmas lights blazing festively. It was that very instant that I knew that my sister had passed away. It was ridiculous since it was so sudden and I had absolutely NO real reason to think that, but I just KNEW. Turns out she collapsed and died during the time I was in the shower.

But, Creek, seeing that you've lost quite a few people recently, perhaps you're right in that it is just a leftover emotion trying to find a way to express itself. I know that my emotions have the oddest ways of popping up at times!!

:MandJ: Yeah, definitely not all about attempting to make myself appear weird (I do that enough naturally :p: ). She was 13, just a kid still. She had a completely undetected heart condition, evidently. She was a cheerleader and collapsed at a bball game; she was gone before she hit the floor, which I'm eternally grateful for.

I've only had jello shots once at a summer cookout. I prefer my booze straight so I can feel it going down and gauge its effect. Sodey-pop drinks are a sure ticket to drive the white bus.

Never had a premonition.

Have seen REO Speedwagon and Bob Seger about 5000 times in my college days at OU and OSU. I posted my first time seeing REO in here somewhere.

All 3 of my kids still have their baby blankets and they still sleep with them (even HS son who would kill me if he saw this). My youngest still sleeps with her stuffed Barney but puts it away when she has kids spend the nght.

I hear you ua. I can't count the number of times we've gotten the 10:00 "I forgot, I need a <name the item> tomorrow or I'll flunk" from our kids.

After being around that track few times, the spousal unit has a mini-Office Depot in the basement for such items. You start to know what they'll need pre-school year and we make a stocking up run to Office Depot/Staples.

That is no lie. Except the stuff you finally mastered will morph into more adult needs from you kids. Instead of buying baseball cards or school supplies, then you get into cars and insurance rates.

The personal stuff gets much scarier too. Just think back to when you were 20... no, wait.... don't even go there... it's way too stressful to imagine your kids with that facing them.

Tonight, my sister won a contest on some radio station (she's been banned from like 4 of them for winning too much). Tomorrow, the wife and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. My mom is watching the kids and I have made reservations at a swank little bed and breakfast north of Columbus that has a big screen TV, a kind size bed, a jacuzzi, a 2 person shower, a massage table, and they are serving dinner to us in our room as well as breakfast on Sunday. It's funny to see my son's friends from t-ball days are now a 6-7 280 lb tackle with a Div. 1 scholarship. What did they feed that boy?

The MHS marching band is playing at halftime (with my son on bass clarinet this year). Then, the band plays in Mason's Heritage Day parade tomorrow AM. I've also got to buy him a used car this weekend. The spousal unit has informed me she is done carting him around.

Tonight, my sister won a contest on some radio station (she's been banned from like 4 of them for winning too much). Anyway, she won a contest and won 4 tickets to the Dragons game which includes seats right behind the plate, a clubhouse and locker room tour, and we get to be on the field for batting practice.

It will be a surprise to her as she doesn't think we are doing anything.

Sounds like a blast, hope it goes well :)

Why I Fired My Secretary
>
>
>
>Two weeks ago was my 49th birthday and I wasn't feeling too good that
>morning. I went to breakfast knowing my wife would be pleasant and say,
>Happy Birthday!" and probably have a present for me. As it turned out, she
>didn't even say good morning, let alone any happy birthday. I thought,
>well, that's wives for you, the children will remember. The children came
>in to breakfast and didn't say a word. So when I left for the office, I was
>feeling pretty low and despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary
>Carol said, "Good morning, Boss. Happy Birthday". And I felt a little
>better that someone had remembered. I worked until noon, then Carol knocked
>on my door and said, "You know, it's such a beautiful day outside, and it's
>your birthday, let's go to lunch, just you and me." I said, "By George,
>that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go! We didn't go where
>we normally go; instead we went out to a private little place. We had two
>martinis and enjoyed lunch tremendously. On the way back to the office,
>she said, "You know, it's such a beautiful day. We don't need to go back to
>the office, do we?" I said, "No, I guess not." She said, "Let's go to my
>apartment." After arriving at her apartment she said, "Boss, if you don't
>mind, I think I'll go into the bedroom and slip into something more
>comfortable" Sure!" I excitedly replied. She went into the bedroom and,
>
>
>
>In about six minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake -----
>
>followed by my wife, children, and dozens of our friends, all singing
>Happy Birthday.
>
>

>And I just sat there ---- on the couch ---- Naked.

I just had lunch, actually. From the vending machine. Mm-mmm-m.

I'm leaving @ 2pm today. That's my goal.

The company is having a nationwide review of its satellite offices (of which I am one) at the end of the month, so (Louisville tells me) I shouldn't start on any new work, but just finish up what I'm working on now to make my numbers look good.

But I don't have anything lingering; my desk is caught up.

So basically, I'm supposed to spend the next three days doing absolutely nothing.

In 1937, a team known as the Cincinnati Bengals was formed as a member of the rival American Football League. It was that team’s nickname which was later adopted by today’s NFL franchise.

The 1937 Bengals finished with a 2-4-2 record in their first year, but the AFL folded after the season. The Bengals continued as an independent team in 1938, playing three NFL teams that year. They beat the Chicago Bears, 17-13, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, 38-0, and tied the Chicago Cardinals, 7-7.

In 1939, the Bengals joined a new AFL, finishing in second place with a 6-2 record. But again, the league folded after the season.

Once again in 1940, another new AFL emerged, and again the Bengals joined. They recorded 1-7-0 and 1-5-2 marks in 1940 and 1941, respectively. That AFL suffered the fate of the two AFLs before it, folding after the 1941 season as the United States entered World War II. Only this time, the Bengals folded along with it.

Pro football returned to Cincinnati 26 years later, in 1967, when Paul Brown headed an ownership group which landed an expansion franchise in the modern-era American Football League. Brown, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who founded and coached the Cleveland Browns from 1946-62, picked the name Bengals for the new team “to give it a link with past professional football in Cincinnati.”

Hundreds of names were suggested by fans in an effort to name the new Cincinnati team, the most popular being Buckeyes. It was rejected to avoid confusion with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Bengals began play in the AFL in 1968. The AFL merged with the NFL in 1970.

On this date in 1982: Oakland's Rickey Henderson swipes four bases against Milwaukee, giving him 122 steals and enabling him to break Lou Brock's single-season record of 118. Henderson will play sparingly the rest of the year, getting only three thefts in the next five weeks and finishing with 130.

(Is it just me, or does that math not add up?)

She's actually very sweet and timid. But I used to have another grey tabby (who now lives with my parents), and she definitely has an attitude. She's a big snob, only eats canned cat food.

And to make matters worse, she was spayed too young and it somehow was screwed up, so she still goes into heat even though she has no uterus or ovaries or anything. Poor baby. :(

(For the record, I didn't do that to her. I adopted her from the SPCA, and they told me she hadn't been spayed yet. But when I took her to the vet to get her spayed, they discovered she already had been.)
