I emailed my son (he's an iPod guy but knows a lot about MP3 players) and he said go to http://www.delldjsite.com and poke around/ask for help.

If it's still under warranty, call Dell at 1-800-624-9896.

My gut feel is that it's toast.

Thanks Roy, that was really nice of you!!! I have a bad feeling that your gut feeling is right... I've been all over the website and through the owner's manual, and it doesn't mention anything about not being able to do any of the rescue mode menu tasks. I've emailed my stepdad to ask about the warranty... I just wish my friend didn't take my CD player with her to California (her reasoning was that she should have it, since I use my mp3 player and she lost her CD player  ).

Thanks to everyone who replied!! I really appreciate it!!! :)

Amusing reason of how computers can be both very smart and very dumb at the same time

In this post
http://www.redszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=435821&postcount=7

I cut and pasted the CNNSI lineups.

The team name and the word hitter ran together into one word.

So Reds and Hitters became one single word, red****ters. And the filter takes care of the profanity.

Funny, well, to me it is anyway.

Aww, Cleveland and Pearl, how cute!! I adore dogs too, and I'd LOVE to have one, but I'm terribly allergic to them. I get really sick if I spend ONE night at a dog owner's house, even if the dog isn't in the house when I'm there, so it wouldn't be a good idea for me to have one. :(

I grew up having cats, though, so I have to admit I'm definitely more of a kitty person! :) I took that pic of Larkin this summer when I was at home. Ahh, I really miss my cats when I'm here at school...

Larkin's a beast!! She can do anything!!! She regularly leaps to the tops of doors and swings around on them (usually at night when I'm trying to sleep)! She's done the traditional climbing of the curtains (before she was declawed), and she leaps to the tops of the cupboards and the fridge. Her favorite perch is at the top of the shower so she can watch me... Yeah, I guess she's a little pervert... :p: :MandJ:

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against cats, I just think dogs are much more friendly. I had a golden retriever a few years back, and that dog absolutely loved playing catch, she had to tear up about 20 tennis balls in its lifetime. Sadly she died of cancer in her leg a couple years ago. :(

Ukulele Hall Of Fame Looking For A Home

CRANSTON, R.I. (Wireless Flash) -- A Rhode Island man wants to strum up support for a museum dedicated to the ukulele.

Ever since 1996, ukulele buff David Wasser has been collecting ukes, sheet music and interviews for the proposed museum, which will be called -- what else? -- the Ukulele Hall of Fame.

Wasser says his organization now has 401 card-carrying, ukulele-playing members and more than 1000 ukes in storage for the proposed museum -- which he hopes to set up somewhere in Hawaii.

Stringing together enough interest for the museum hasn't been easy but Wasser is confident there will be a uke hall built in his lifetime, especially because the instrument is surfing a new wave of popularity thanks to comedian and uke buff Adam Sandler. In the meantime, Wasser hopes to strike a chord with his fellow ukulele players by presenting his plans at Ukulele Expo 2004, a three-day uke fest taking that starts September 17 in Bushkill, Pennsylvania.

At the risk of dragging the baseball side into this thread for a second ...

It is so sad to go through, and to watch it go down like it has is making it all the worse, at least for me.

From a purely selfish standpoint, it would have been so much easier for me to deal with Larkin's retirement if it had gone as planned: This is his last year, his last hurrah, let's all celebrate his career and spend all year saying goodbye, let's honor him at the end of the season, and then possibly see about him continuing on in the front office. That way, while I would still be sad to see him go, I would know it's coming and I could brace for it. And as it turned out, it would have been a bittersweet time, since he played well this year.

Now I don't even know if I witnessed what could have been his last start with the Reds. I don't even know when his last start was.

I'm not going to blame Larkin for wanting to play next year -- he's had a great season, in my opinion, and if he can play next year then by all means I support that. And I'm not going to blame the front office/Miley for not starting him the rest of the season. (Okay, that's a lie. I'm going to hold it against them a little bit.) But I do understand that they need to figure out what they have for the future. I just wish this had all turned out differently.

I'm only 28 years old, so to me, Barry Larkin is the Reds. I can't really remember a time when he wasn't part of this team. He's the constant, the player still around that can connect this team with my youth and the days when I was really becoming a baseball fan. I can be objective about almost anything when it comes to the Reds, but I cannot be objective when it comes to Larkin. If he could play for five more years, that would be just fine with me. If he does play next year, I hope to god it is with the Reds, because it would tear me up to see him elsewhere.

I tell ya what, the thought of him leaving, coupled with Joe's departure, is enough to make this girl teary-eyed. Which is somewhat silly, so I'm totally going to chalk it up to PMS (again) and the fact that I haven't had much sleep lately.

Come on..you were just trying to sneak bad words past the filter ;)

I remember a cousin of mine listening to Debbie Gibson and Taylor Dane for hours.

Ahh, painful memories ;)

There was a time when
Broken hearts and broken dreams
Were over.
There was a place where
All you could do was
Wish on a four leaf clover.

But now is a new time
There is a new place
Where dreams just can't come true.
It started the day when I left you

CHORUS:
I could never love again the way that I loved you
I could never cry again like I did when I left you
And when we said goodbye,
Oh the look in your eyes
Just left me beside myself without your heart
(without your heart)
I could never love again now that we're apart

VERSE 2:
When I was sorry
It was too late to turn around (turn around)
And tell you so.
There was no reason
There was no reason
Just a foolish beat of my heart.

BRIDGE:
Oh, can't you see I'm not fooling nobody
Don't you see the tears are falling down my face
Since you went away
Break my heart, you slipped away
Didn't know I was wrong
Never meant to hurt you now you're gone

I could never love again now that we're apart.
(now that we're apart)
I could never love again now that we're apar

I'm worried that I'm getting addicted to my pain pills. Yesterday I woke up early partly cause of the dull ache in my ankle and I had one but I didn't have another one until I went to bed last night. When I woke up the pain wasn't too bad but after about an hour on the couch the consistant aching was too much and I took another pill. The aching has subsided but I don't want to get to the point where every time my ankle hurts I pop another pill.

Come on..you were just trying to sneak bad words past the filter ;)

You can do that by inserting open and closed tags in the word. For example, type the first two letters, then "bold open tag" and "bold closed tag" and then the last two letters of the word, and the filter won't pick it up.

Not that I'm suggesting any of you do this.

Been there. It doesn't sound to me like you've anything to worry about yet - are there any instructions on the scrip for how often you should be taking them, or is it just the devilish "as needed?"

if you do get worried about the hook, or reach the point where you're popping every two hours, just flush 'em. Easy to say, harder to do. I wouldn't do it willingly; my sister had to come over and do it for me, then call my PCP and tell him to quit writing me scrips - I was hooked. But pain doesn't hinder the healing process in any way, so...

Of course, I'm an admitted drunkard, so me giving you advice/anecdotes is likely hypocritical at best.

EXETER, England (Reuters) -- Muppets Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker defeated Dr. Strangelove, Dana Scully of "X Files" fame and Star Trek's Mr. Spock to be voted Britain's favorite screen scientists.

They beat their closest rival by a margin of 2 to 1 and won 33 percent of the 43,000 votes cast in an Internet poll published in Monday.

Spock came in a distance second with 15 percent followed by The Doctor, from Dr Who, who garnered 13 percent. Scully, the only woman in the poll, came in sixth.

"They are accessible, humorous and occasionally blow each other up," said Roland Jackson, of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA).

The balding, white-coated Honeydew and flame-haired, bulging-eyed Beaker created an array of crazy gadgets on the popular television show.

"They're the kind of scientists you would like to be but never quite dared to," said Alan Slater, a scientist at the University of Exeter in southwestern England.

The poll, sponsored by the BA and the BBC cult television website gave the public five weeks to choose their favorite scientist from a shortlist of 10 that included Dr. Evil from the film "Austin Powers," Dr. Frankenstein, Frank N. Furter, of the "Rocky Horror Show Picture Show," Dr. Emmett Brown, of the film "Back to the Future" and Q of James Bond fame.

Results of the poll were announced at the start of the week-long BA science conference here.

Chip. After a week, you aren't addicted. I took percocet and oxycotin both for over a month after one of my surgeries and I didn't become addicted. Yeah I know, different personality types and all that.

But I did worry about addiciton, especially when I was taking vicoden. So here's what I would do. Either cut the pills in half and take half doses (not twice as often) or call the Dr and ask him to step you down to something not as strong. If neither of those are viable options, flush the pills and make due with Tylenol.

Good job, creek. That is what I was going to suggest. I have an impacted wisdom tooth that has grown into the nerve along my jawline. I have seen 5 different oral surgeons and NONE of them will remove it. They all said that even if the tiniest thing goes wrong, I would lose feeling in my tongue and maybe some muscle loss on the left side of my face, permanently. They all said that it would "flare up" and cause pain about twice a year, so when it does "flare up", I go in to see them and they prescribe Vicoden and an anti-inflammatory. The first time it flared up they wrote me a prescription for 25 Vicoden with 1 refill. The pain was gone after about 3 days (3 pills), but like a moron, I kept taking them. After about 15 straight days of taking them, I realized that as soon as I woke up, I was reaching for them = not good. I called the doctor and told him that I wanted him to prescribe me something a little less potent the next time, and that I really only needed 2 a day for about 3 days. That's what I got the next time, and it has worked for me now for about 4 years without problems.
