It was a pink blouse with a white skirt - and I felt really funny about it (especially because of the boxer lines I had with no slip and a white skirt), but I did notice one thing. I have awesome legs!

But what about the shoes, man!!!

Creek, Puffy must get mad points with you for not just wearing a pink shirt, uh, blouse, but that skirt deal must have sent him off the chart in masculine confidence.

Oh, one other thing about the HOF: When I was trying to hit the 90 mph fastball (ha!), the guy working there who was helping me told me that one person has hit a HR. And that Junior was trying it last night, and he managed to get a single off it. He said those were the only two people who've been able to get a hit so far!

I also signed up to be a volunteer, and I hope they give me a call. I'd gladly hang out there for a few hours a week! (Plus, all the staff members I saw were male, and we just can't have that. ;) )If Greg Rhodes is umpiring the Red Stockings-Buckeyes game on Sunday, I will be sure to put in a good word or 100 for you, Rosie.

Puffy, I meant to comment on your post about baby showers and wedding showers, etc: I don't know the etiquette for those things, and I'm a girl and I've been to more than my share of both types of showers. (Let's not forget the engagement parties, bachelorette parties, etc.) I DREAD going to any of those things.

I really can't get into baby and wedding showers, even when they're for my closest friends. It all seems so fake and contrived. And don't even get me started on what people register for these days. (Like my friend getting married this weekend, she registered for an asparagus steamer. What?! I've never even heard of such a thing! And my friend who recently had a baby, she registered for those safety devices that you use to cover electrical outlets. Umm, baby-proof your own home, okay?)

I swear with everything in me, if I buy a house before I get married (highly likely), I am having a party for myself and I am REGISTERING for it. Pottery Barn, here I come!

Thanks Chip! It's funny you mention that, because he was standing *right* next to me while I filled out both my membership form and volunteer application. And the guy working behind the counter said to Greg "Hey Greg! We just got a new member, and she's filling out a volunteer application!" And Greg just looked at me, sort of smiled, then walked away. (Which is too bad, because I really wanted to tell him how much I loved the place.)

I think he's just a little stressed out. :MandJ:

Its too small of an office to do that - for their thinking its like well come on in, we have food, its a break from work, etc. But for me its women opening baby presents, girl talk, stuff like that - I have nothing to contribute and I sure don't know or want to go baby shopping, or card shopping for a shower. Oh well, it should be the last one of those for a long while.

Yuk. I don't blame you. I didn't even like those work shower things, and I'm a woman. But if you insist on continuing to attend, LOL, I'll help you out with the gift... a small, baby-sized stuffed animal filled with beans (no, not a beany baby as they are too small)... babies love them and can clasp them in their little hands. And the best place to find them is in a hospital gift shop; they usually have tons. Then just buy a gift card and write Congrats on the inside. This gift is always a hit with Mom and baby.

Here's some news about the bright future of The Amazing Race:

Is The Amazing Race headed for a detour?

If you were looking forward to watching the next season of The Amazing Race on Saturday nights this fall, start making other plans.

The next installment of the CBS reality show was supposed to air on TV's loneliest night of the week starting in late September. But as you know, hits are hard to come by, and if you have one, you don't put it on Saturday night, when young viewers are least available.

Ratings for the last few weeks of the current Amazing Race have been near the top of Nielsen's rankings for viewers 18 to 49. If it were the regular TV season, Race would be CBS's sixth most popular show in that demographic, which is favored most by advertisers.

That's why CBS is choosing to "rest" the show for about a month or so after it wraps up its current run in a two-hour finale on Tuesday. When The Amazing Race does come back, look for it to show up in a more high-profile time period.

CBS touts itself as the most popular network among viewers in all age groups, but being able to challenge NBC and Fox for leadership in the 18-to-49 category would help the network extract millions of dollars more in ad rates from Madison Avenue.

The Amazing Race can help CBS do that.

Where could it go? Tuesday is the most likely night, where CBS's baseball-themed drama Clubhouse is the longest of long shots at 9 pm/ET. Since NBC's Father of the Pride will apparently be sticking around for a while, Race would have no reality competition in the hour.

Or if one of CBS's new comedies doesn't work out, The King of Queens can return to Mondays, and Race could move into the Wednesday 9 pm slot, against ABC's The Bachelor, which is starting to fade.

Then there's Friday, where the new 10 pm drama dr. vegas is expected to be a tough sell.

Needless to say, CBS will have some options. Failure is inevitable when a new fall season rolls out. But rarely does a network have a weapon as potent as The Amazing Race to pull out when it happens.

Puffy, the idea of you and 6 women and a shower doesn't sound all bad.

Oh, you mean a different kind of shower? :mhcky21:

My wife was asked to go to a bridal shower for my brothers ex-wife's daughter. We've stayed close to his ex-wife. She's actually more part of the family that he is. Which makes for some funny kind of family gatherings. And I don't mean funny ha-ha.

So my wife asked me if $30 was enough to spend. I said "bfbfbspppt" and told her to look it up in Emily Post under "protocol for divorced ex-spouses".

RL, get used to the milk thing. My son goes through a gallon every other day. The boy loves milk.

I thought NYPD Blue was pretty good last night. I just hope they follow through on all the things they set up (new lieutenant that's an SOB, flirty new partner, John being a drunk, Andy mad).

I'm off to lunch with some people I used to work with circa 1994-1999 (2 jobs back).

Having worked in the Cincinnati area since 1983, I'm starting to have quite the catalog of people I used to work with. I've found I keep running into the same people over and over. Companies and roles change, but its the same people.

It's like the company reorganization phenomena I see that I call the birdcage theory. You have a cage, you have some birds, and you have some people. You bang on the side of the cage and there is a great amount of flying, flurrying about, jockeying for perches, feathers flying, squawking, etc.

But at the end of it all, it's still the same cage, the same birds, and the same perches.

I've always felt sorry for Chris Farley. How low must your self-esteem be to base an entire comedic career upon your weight problem? And you know he didn't want to be obese, nobody does, but it made people laugh. He built his name on people laughing at him as opposed to with him. I imagine he must have hated himself like few people ever have.

Ok, so that was tangential, but every time I see a video or hear a mention of Chris Farley it makes me so freakin' depressed. It's just tragic.

I'm with you Roy - and one thing about NYPD blue is they always follow thru on storylines, and they set up alot of them last night.

I think they'll resolve the Clark being a drunk pretty quick, like two three weeks, but the rest might take longer or shorter depending on the time dedicated to them.

I have this aversion to patronizing those places... reminds me too much of the days when I was just barely not living on the streets, selling everything I owned just to keep the heat and water on, and selling things I didn't own when I was out of CDs, records, books and video games. :D

I really enjoy the show Last Comic Standing - although i wish they give the comedians more than 2 and a half minutes. Cut out all that peripheral stuff and give the comedians 4 minutes each. If you have 8 comics performing (like they have been) that times out to 32 minutes and give you between 15 and 20 minutes to do the rest of the stuff. Instead they give the comedians 20 minutes and use 25-30 for the other stuff - stupid.

I also wanted to say that I was happy with the ending of The Amazing Race. Chip and Kim were a good team and were very gracious. During that last episode my feelings for Brandon and Nicole changed. At one point in the show Nicole said something like "I can't wait to have that million dollar check in my hand, and I haven't done anything." That was the clincher for me. She was right she didn't do anything and is the sole reason that their team lost. That show always leaves me wanting more...

You can never go wrong asking people to make a list of what they like.

Everyone loves to talk about themselves. Although no one cares what you list as your five or ten whatevers, and if they bother to read them they will forget what they were within the day, you will still post them.

Even knowing these truths, I wasted a good ten minutes trying to narrow down mine own list for posting. Because we love to talk about ourselves.

Can you get any money back by selling your two DVD's and your VHS and one of those "second time around" stores. Then you'd have money to put toward the purchase on the new box set...

He can, not gonna get what he paid, but it's better then nothing :D

Puffy, not to question your thread, but didn't we recently have a "top 5 songs" thread?

Good Afternoon Rosie :D

I think they'll resolve the Clark being a drunk pretty quick, like two three weeks, but the rest might take longer or shorter depending on the time dedicated to them.
I hope not. I'd like ("like" being a subjective term) to see him hit absolute rock bottom and royally screw up. Then start to patch together the pieces and fail often. Finally get it together but damaged/made wiser by it. Sort of how real life is.

But yeah, it'll probably resolve itself in short order. Viewers don't like being dragged through the muck.

KronoRed
09-22-2004, 02:20 PM
Maybe, but I'm drunk with power right now, so I fail to comprehend those who disagree with me, those who start other threads, etc.

Luka - Suzanne Vega!

My name is Luka, I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight

Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was

I think it's cause I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why

You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown

Just don't ask me how I feel
Just don't ask me how I feel
Just don't ask me how I feel

I am heading to the CD store tonight to check out some of the bands in the "Best of" notes. There are bands/artists there that I've never even *heard* of before. And some people think they are the best of all time! What planet have I been on? I used to be cool! Honest!

Anything particular that you are interested in buying. I need to do some CD shopping as well. Need something new to listen to. I didn't do anything... the drive drawer just decided to stop working. The manual open thing doesn't work, either. Now I'm out a copy of EA MLB 2004 even if I do get the thing fixed, which is the only reason I bought the Box to begin with, and the only game I own.

You can't stop the Navy option, you can only hope to contain it. Army got lost at sea and had to abandon ship. Navy ran wild. Have to love the Wishbone and flexbone attack.

Yeah, that's why I didn't do that. :D I'd rather just lose the game than lose the game and the Box.

I guess the reason I haven't had it replaced yet is because I've got so much other stuff to do that playing XBox doesn't even enter my mind.
