Yes! They are spelled differently ;), and a Butterfinger bar couldn't hold a Clark bar's jock strap ...... or something like that. :)

Best part of a Reeses is after you've gently nibbled all the chocolate off and you pop the blob of peanut butter in your mouth. In my opinion, the chocolate only serves to protect the yummy peanut butter.

I can't eat them like that, I just throw the whole thing in and chew a lot :D

Rosie, it sounds like you are finally on the path to righteousness with the BMV. Bureaucracy at its finest.

I've got some cones if you want to practice your maneuverability test.

I've always wondered who the people are that want a job at the BMV? It's like working at the lost luggage counter at the airport. You know your clientele doesn't want to be there, won't be in the greatest mood, and it's all just a pain in the neck.

Do people dream as a little kid "The highest calling for my life is to work at the BMV and deal with PO'ed people every day"?

Some people like to see others in pain, like telemarketers like to hear people be pissed off ;)

So after mailing my broken XBox to the cats at Replacement Products, they mailed me a gift certificate for the purchase price, which is to say that I can buy either another XBox or a PS2. I want to make this purchase before the weekend, so I have something to do on Monday (banker's holiday, but all my friends have to work), but I can't decide whether or not to get the PS2 (GTA: San Andreas) or another XBox (Halo2, plus my friends have Boxes so I can borrow games from them).

I ask the thread for guidance.

I'd go with a PS2, Metal Gear 3 will be ps2 only for awhile :)

I'm listening to an old K's Choice album, which has this song on it:

Artist: K's choice
Song: I Smoke A Lot
Album: The Great Subconscious Club

I smoke a lot
I'm not talking weed or pot
I smoke the regular stuff
I smoke a lot
And if you're a smoker too
You are to know sometimes it's tough
To be in healthy company
People who always say
You smoke a lot
Imagine the amount of money you could save if you'd quit
You smoke a lot
By now you'd have a bike, aren't you concerned about the kids
Well, of course, sure I am, concerned (a bit)
But about that bike, I could get killed with it
And is that what you really want
(It's not)

So I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
My God I smoke a lot, and I feel fine
And I feel fine
I smoke a lot

I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
Sometimes it's great
Sometimes it's not
But I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot
I smoke a lot

This CD also has the song "Breakfast":

I woke up between dawn and night
Thought I heard the voice of Mommy
Sounds as if my parents had a fight
So I woke up my brother lying next to me

I wonder why she's making all that noise
Better go and check it out
So trying not to breathe only the sound of little feet
We were about to discover what that noise was all about

And as we opened up the door
We saw them lying on the kitchen floor.
We were grateful for they both did their best
But we said hey, there must be an easier way to make breakfast

they both got up real fast
As if they were caught (or something)
And then we understood at last
It was a surprise breakfast they were planning

Mommy stumbled, later, kids, you'll understand
While daddy was busy putting on his pants
We said we already do, don't worry, we'll do the rest
So far for our quest, we made coffee, boiled eggs
We made them breakfast

I just went through this with my son.

We set up the cones and he practiced (and practiced and practiced and ...). After a few sessions, he got pretty good at it (and got a 100 on his test).

I hopped in the car and did it the first time. But then, I've driven a lot of different kinds of vehicles, can back up a trailer, drove auto-cross, etc etc so take it with a grain of salt.

The only place I know of that I can practice at is a driver's ed place up in West Chester, where they always have cones set up. I went there last night, but there were three cars already waiting to practice. I practiced a ton when I was 16 (way back in the day ;) ) and still failed on my first try. My mirror touched a yardstick sticking up from the cone. I passed the second time.

Well, worst thing that could happen is I fail, and have to take it again a week later. At this point, what's one more week with no license?

I didn't think it was as hard as parallel parking and just didn't think it was that tough. Just roll slowly (don't stop) and use your side mirrors. And don't roll over the cone foot, Zach did that a lot at first.

He got cones from a friend of his that look like rejects from a highway project (and they're still sitting in the garage).

Thanks for the tips Roy! :)

I just found out some exciting news! My friend e-mailed me this article. (It's exciting to us because we were obsessed with the plane, because we were sort of obsessed with the movie. Billy Zane ... :luvu: ) Kinda sad for Tenn. though.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - One of the most famous airplanes of World War Two is headed to Ohio.

But that's giving preservationists in its namesake city of Memphis the blues.

The Memphis Belle was named for the sweetheart of its wartime pilot. Local preservationists have struggled for decades to keep it in Tennessee.

The military wants to move the airplane by the end of the month to its museum at Ohio's Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton (Ohio).

The Air Force wants to use the plane to tell the story of the air war over German-occupied Europe.

The Belle was one of the first B-17's to complete a required 25 combat missions in the war. Its crew came home for a nationwide bond-selling tour and the Belle became a wartime symbol of heroism and sacrifice.

Dude, you missed a great one. I skipped watching baseball last night to watch the 30 year "rap" specials on VH1, which were hella-cool and then caught South Park late last night.

South Park was great. It was the one where Cartman decides to sign up for the Special Olympics to try and win $1000. Timmuh and Jimmuh were in the Special Olympics and Jimmuh was taking steroids to try and beat the others. Cartman practiced dressing, speaking, and acting mentally retarded to convince others that he belonged and that he was going to win the $1000 "for sure". Kyle told him it was morally wrong and that he was going to hell. Cartman told Kyle that if had seen "The Passion" he would have known that hell is reserved for non-believers and Jews. Cartman got his butt kicked in the Special Olympics and came in last. Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Jason Giambi presented the Special Athlete Award to Jimmuh, who cracked and admitted he had been doign steroids. In all, very good episode.

Weekend coffee is the best coffee.

You see, I start every morning off with a pot of coffee. On weekdays I get up 'round 4, brew the pot, and it's gone by the time I leave for work ~7:30 or so. But weekday morning coffee is just a fuel. I use the pre-ground Max-House stuff... there's not much flavor to it, but that's not what I want ti for. I just need it to get me up and going in the morning.

Weekend coffee, is another bird entirely. That's when you have time to savor, to enjoy the coffee. Weekends call for gourmet beans and the grinder. While a pot of coffee may only last me about 3 hours on a weekday, the weekend pot lasts into the early afternoon.

Mmm. I'm looking forward to Saturday.

And I also will side with you on the non-political aspect of it, although if you read through it it argues as dems on the one side and repubs on the other, for the most part.

Go kick them ;)

Hey EVERYBODY!!

I've been told that I am going to continue with the "outside" work I've been doing through the week, but will be back next Monday at which time I will resume my normal schedule. 2 airalex questions lined up for Monday!!

Thought I'd get caught up on the thread while I have a little time.

This is cool!

Just up the road now :gac: :gac: :gac: :gac:

Yeah, it does... but it's not about the election. :D

I've always thought of myself as a Republican, but I can't get on board with the whole religious thing. It kinda sucks. When it comes to government, I believe in minimalism.

And that $3 will go to - - - - - - - - - - BEER! OK, its only enough for one beer, but still, its beer.

Caffeine addict ;)

I had to take all the driving tests again after letting my license unknowingly expire.

I practiced using the lines in an empty parking lot. We don't have a maneuverability test in NY, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was very similar to backing out of our garage. I have to back out and make a sharp turn to stay in the driveway and out of the ravine. It was really simple when I actually went for the test. The hardest part is remembering the instructions. (Lining your front tires to the last cone.)

KronoRed
10-07-2004, 03:32 PM
So, you all from Ohio have to navigate through cones during your driving test??

As a New Yorker, we did not have to do that, at least when I took the test in the late 80s. We had to drive through the city, do a three point turn and parallel park. But that was it.

Here in this part of Kentucky they have you do the test over in the low income housing..

real fun.

Maybe it's a cocktail/sunburn combo. Ouch!

When I did my NY test, they asked for a broken K turn. I asked, "What the hell is that?" It was what I call a 3 point turn. You also have to parallel park. That's a tougher one for me, because I never have to do it in real life. I've never lived in a city.
