Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston Separate
Fri Jan 7, 2005 08:07 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have separated after 4 1/2 years of marriage but remain "committed and caring friends," the couple said on Friday.
"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate," Pitt and Aniston, who first met on a dinner date in 1998, said in a joint statement initially published by People magazine on its Web site.

"For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media," the statement said.

"This decision is a result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."

Pitt, 41, current starring in the big-screen crime caper "Ocean's Twelve" and former "Friends" star Aniston, 35, were married in a lavish, celebrity-studded wedding in the seaside California resort of Malibu in July 2000.

You know, my first response to stuff like this is: "Who freaking cares?"

I don't wanna sound like a jerk or anything, but these people in Hollywood have no idea what the word "commitment" even means.

If I was some big mega star like Brad Pitt, I wouldn't even get married. That way I could run around with any young strumpet that came my way, instead pretending to be some committed family man type.

George Clooney has the right idea.

George Clooney has the right idea.
Not to mention Warren Beatty. He played around a lot until he finally settled down. Now he's got like 5 kids and you don't hear any rumors about him stepping out on Annette Bening. But how long does the average marriage last anyway? Brad and Jen have been married for 4 1/2 years. In Hollywood, that's forever. But let's not be too hard on these folks. Lots of non celebs get married and divorced in shorter periods of time than 4 1/2 years.

Oh dear! She's hot and has a smokin' bod but she's nuttier than a fruitcake. I'd get as far away from her as I could.
