Sort of a shame to see a Star Trek show get the boot, but this show was (imo) awful from the start.

Ever since The Next Generation Star Trek has been pretty much unwatchable.

It was someone tolerable when it was tongue in cheek and didn't take itself too seriously.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't think Enterprise was awful, but I came into it liking Scott Bakula.

Mrs. U said wryly that this move benefits Jolene Blalock the most, since it will keep her from being typecast. Has there ever been a better excuse to post a gratuitous photo of Jolene. :D

DS9 was a fantastic show, though both Voyager and Enterprise stunk.

I expect Star Trek to come back in some form, probably as a series, in a few years. I believe Rick Berman is right-the franchise is simply tired.
Star Trek: The Next Generation was easily my favorite of all the Star Trek series; I liked it even more than the 60's original. I never was able to get into the other spinoff series, however. I watched DS9, Voyager and Enterprise several times, but they never became the habit with me the first two series were.

Voyager grew on me, but the Dominion war in DS9 was the best year of that series.

However, then first three episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica have all of the Star Trek series beat.

DS9 was a fantastic show, though both Voyager and Enterprise stunk.Plodding and brooding until the 7th season - the only really interesting season of DS9, IMHO. Too many dark storylines for my taste, and don't even get me started about all of that time that show wasted on minutiae of Bajoran folklore. :p:

Voyager was solid after the third season and Enterprise has been as solid as Voyager once it got past the awkwardness of its first season. Neither of the UPN newcomers measure up to the standard set by Next Gen.

Having no new ST episodes at all will be better than those years that DS9 was the only series.

I disagree Unassisted, DS9 tried to do something different, and I think it did it well. :)

Voyager to me was Gilligan's Island in space, every week "we might get home" :help:

Also, DS9 was never the only series on, it ran with TNG and then VOY, Trek overload and dividing the fan base..Nice work paramount

But a rest is needed, a rest, NEW PEOPLE IN CHARGE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD ahem.

My kids watch DS9 reruns. I look at parts of most of those shows now and wish I had the time back that I spent watching them the first time. I guess I strongly prefer the variety of story lines that a ship-based show provides. <shrug>

Voyager got away from that "Gilligan's Island" effect in its last few seasons. At one point, they seemed to accept that it would take 40 years to return to Earth and proceeded on their way. It only occasionally cropped up as a plot point when they would encounter some alien technology that would shorten the trip.

This might be of interest to Trek fans who avoid "Enterprise."

"Jonathan Frakes confirmed that he and Marina Sirtis will be performing as Riker and Troi in the finale of Star Trek: Enterprise."

Maybe the whole series was just a Will Riker dream? ;)

Looks like the Trekkies will have to move on... and maybe get a girlfriend.

Or they can still run around the house with their Spock ears on and try to perform a Vulcan mind meld on the cat.
