Wow, think maybe someone could give you Miley's private number? Maybe he's just unaware of this glaring statistic.

ESPNews is reporting that Nomar has "flu like" symptoms and is inactive tonight. He didn't dress.

they also just stated that tonight's ESPN broadcast will be done by color man Rick Sutcliffe. No Cubs slant there mind you.

What in the flip did he do to merit that? Very questionable managerial decision IMO. Aurilia hits a flare and he gets to start the next 5 games???

Lefties also hit Wood better than righties, but why let that influence you.

How wild is it that Neifi Perez walks into this game with a 1.000 OPS?

And hopefully the Reds get to see Cliff Bartosh (as Dog). Mainly so I can make Cliff Bartosh (as Dog) jokes.

I'll take a stab at that. Repeated throws in the dirt, hitless yesterday in four feeble at bats, failure to advance the runner at second base with less than two outs yesterday, lack of any meaningful production throughout his career.

It's amazing that the Reds continue to face All-Star caliber pitchers in every game. Pedro, Glavine, Rocket, Pettite, Oswalt (x2), Mulder, Wood, tomorrow is Pryor. It's almost unfair.

And yet IMO he still deserves to start over Aurilea. That's OK though, Aurilea will likely play himself out of lineup pretty quickly. The Reds can't afford to carry him if he can't hit.

BTW -did Lopez throw the ball in the dirt yesterday? I watched most of the game and didn't see any in the dirt. I did see him make a couple of throws that were fine. Must have missed the bad ones.

You jest, but his point on videotape's prevelance in the major leagues is exceptionally well taken with regard to Matt Belisle.

He gave the rest of the major leagues an 80-pitch scrapbook on everything about him in that Cardinals game.

It's readily apparent that the Cubs went to school on Matt Belisle and aren't going to be fooled by anything he's throwing.

Larue is in part to blame why the Heck do you keep calling for the breaking ball when it is not working and they haven't hit his fastball yet. It sounds to me they are waiting on the breaking ball because they Know he will throw it to much and a good catcher would see that and mix it up alittle better.

Of the nine outs Belisle recorded, one was a baserunning error, another was a scorcher that Aurilia had to leap to get, and several more were shots right at outfielders. There is no way he should bat to lead off the inning if the Reds harbor any thougths of winning this one.

I never played baseball beyond the high school level, but I really don't understand why anyone swings at that slider Kerry Wood throws. He's physically incapable of dropping it in for a strike. If I'm a batting and see any hard rotation on the ball, I'm taking all the way.

Just remember that Belisle only pitched because Ortiz, Hancock, and Hudson are all hurt. Maybe Belisle is ok in middle relief, but he is only an emergency starter.

Last year at AAA Belisle had a 5.26 ERA with 192 hits allowed in 162 innings. That's in the minor leagues. I know he had a decent spring, but he shouldn't be more than a middle reliever on the Reds right now.

Incidentally, this is the kind of game where spot-starting your longman really bites you in the backside.

They're gonna have to pitch 6 bullpen innings tonight, and normally at least 3 or 4 of those would be (in ideal terms) be pitched BY Matt Belisle. Instead, it's gonna have to be a combination of a bunch of the other guys...

...which is going to be rough considering Branden Claussen isn't exactly the type of pitcher who breeds confidence in his ability to go deep in a ballgame, AND the Reds don't have a day off for a while.
