I see him in a spot he doesn't need to be in, I see Dunn batting 2 spots too low.

I guess it just makes to much sense to sit D'lo for Freel, Junior could probably use a night off, so maybe it just makes to much sense to let Wily Mo man center. My mom's always telling me that I'm lazy for always taking the easy way out, maybe the Reds are just trying to take my mom's advice. Do things the hard way. Personally, I just think they're crazy. Oh well, they're still the Reds, even if I don't think they're the right Reds. Gotta get em tonight, can't get swept twice in a row.

We will get the game on ESPN tonight. It will not be blacked out.

Fox Sports Ohio does not have rights to this game, therefore ESPN can carry it in the Reds market.

I'm also curious if it will be blacked out here in Columbus. I know the cable menu is saying Columbus will get the Tigers/Red Sox game.

Hopefully they'll surprise me and show it, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

As far as the lineup goes, I also believe Griffey should be in there if WMP can't start. Griffey is on a 9 game hitting streak (as overrated as hitting streaks can be) and should start over Lopez or Aurillia with Freel/Lopez starting that position.

I will say that I am glad Randa is now in the spot he should occupy the rest of the year, the 6 hole.

:beerme: Here's to a Reds win!

Here are some career numbers against Mark Mulder:

Wily Mo: 1.167 OPS in 6 AB
Freel: .829 OPS in 5 AB
Junior: 1.000 OPS in 5 AB

Not too many ABs accumulated against Mulder, but Wily Mo and Junior have both had some amount of success against him.

The Sox game is the game more of the national audience gets tonight.

ESPN usually has some "backup" games to broadcast and tonight ours is one of them. People in the Sox market will probably get our game. We will too because FSN Ohio doesn't have rights to it.

Once again, we seem to bail out a pitcher. Moeller is working hard, having thrown 17 pitchers to three hitters and we end Felipe to certain doom (or did Lopez go on his own knowing the ground ball was eminent?). Anyway, the next pitch Casey strikes out and the inning is over after 18 pitches that could have been 25.

It's the little things that drive me crazy.

John Fay said the team's "monthly meeting" lasted for about 2 hours this afternoon. Said he wouldn't be surprised if a roster move was made before Friday's game...most likely in the bullpen.

Marty said it's almost like they have to do something, particularly for the fans.

Fay agreed, saying that this hasn't been a great two days for the fans, with the losses and Danny Graves' comments.

Marty said that it is still early, but in this division, that isn't necessarily the case for the Reds.

Fay said you can attach some siginificance to Felipe Lopez being at second tonight. (an indictment against Jimenez) Fay said when you struggle for 26 games it's probably more than just a slump.

Marty then got on Claussen for making a mistake giving a .173-hitting eight hitter a pitch to hit with a weak-hitting pitcher on deck with 2 outs.

Fay said that Stone and Booker are candidates to be called up very soon.

Gotta remember, Claussen used to throw 92-94mph and threw a nasty slider, which he rarely uses anymore due to TJ which has taken away his abilities. With a general loss of 5mp on the fastball and rarely using the slider, his future in this league is as a Kent Merker lefty reliever type. If I was the Reds, I would move him into that role pronto, bringing up another starting pitcher, sending Valentine down and cutting Weber.

Belisle did a good job not allowing any runs. He looks better as a reliever than a starter.

Yankees down 8-2, and Sean Henn got roughed up, but he showed pretty good velocity, throwing around 93-94. Henn looks like a taller version of Claussen before his surgery. Once Henn blows out his arm, the Yankees will shop him around.

The Yankees of 2005 are looking like the Reds of 1977......Dynasty is over....but people just do not realize it yet.

BIF diffrence though is that GS will spend and do whatever it takes....although sometimes with him doing it.....it never seems to work out.

I wonder who will be the Steve Kemp of 2006 FA signings ....i already know who the Ed Whitson FA signing of 2005 was....Jared Wright.

I've been a defender of Aurilia, but I tend to agree with you now. He's not done much to help this team win. I think the best lineup may actually be Lopez at short and Freel at second. And if not what difference does it make? This season is looking more and more like a lost cause.

Maybe not Cruz but DEFINITELY Wily Mo Pena. Why this team has lost 7 in a row without one of its 3 best hitters in the lineup is amazing. And a sad commentary on the managing of one Dave Miley.

Okay...I agree...with that mindset should we go ahead and trade Dunn to another team...maybe the Oakland trade that was mentioned here before? Or is there another team that would want him more and be willing to give us more?

At this point I don't think the Reds have one single shot at signing Dunn to a LTC..JimmyB should have gotten that one done and it should have been priority one with DanO.

Okay...lets talk...I am ready to blow this season up and focus on building depth.

Of course, do you think that perhaps that has been the teams plan all along?

Would you really be surprised to see Casey, Dlo, Wilson, Milton, Jr and Dunn traded this season?

Hmmm...the plot...oh wait, there is no plot...sorry!

I want Dunn to stay...he's a cornerstone (or should be)...but Mr. Efficient Dan O'Brien doesn't discuss LTC's during the season, and should have gotten it taken care of THIS offseason.

If that's true, and you're Adam Dunn.....wouldn't you walk? I think Dan O has said Dunn is not tradable

Matt:

I am right there with you...I don't want to see him anywhere other than Cincy but IF I were Dunn, I would go somewhere where they have more pieces together to win some games and the ownership (although I like Mr. Lindner) has a more immediate plan.

If things don't turn around quick I am pretty well convinced we are going to see Dunn, Casey, DLO, Jr., Wilson and Milton going elsewhere via trades...so that we can have something in the next couple of years.
