His knees are too high. Batting him early in the lineup screws up the strikezone for everybody else.

George lobbed him some softballs, much like Graves does. It was an obvious image repair effort.

Danny just doesn't know when to shut the hell up. He comes across as such a freakin' whiner. And he made a reference to some of the people booing might be drinking, which reminded me of his comment a couple of years ago about the drunks from WV and KY.

Not if they bring in a LH pitcher. And it's that possibility that convinced Miley to shy away from consecutive LH hitters. So, for purposes of bringing in a LH specialist in the late innings, I'd consider Lopez a switch hitter.

After all, there's nothing wrong with consecutive LH batters when a RH pitcher is on the mound.

Kudos to Rando for breaking up the no-hit bid by Lowe, but...

yet another example of where Reds hitters think they're hitting homeruns and wind up losing bases because of this flawed thinking. Unless the umpire motions that it's a homerun (or it's an obvious homerun), you should be running the bases. Randa should have had a triple out of that. He would have scored on a ground-out. He coasted into secondbase, AND had time to admire his shot off the wall. That ought to be your first clue. The kid isn't the speediest, but he's probably as fast as that Edwards kid is, and the positioning of the ball at the base of the wall couldn't have been in any more favor of Randa.

Being able to move 240 feet instead of 180 feet before the ball is returned to the Infield doesn't mean you're safe at third. It means you're out.

He's not Jay Garrick.

Notice that the time he spent on admiring his shot (and jogging) and the time that he coasted into second (reducing his run to a jog) would have given him a great chance at being safe at third should have he have chosen to give one percent effort. How do you know he's out? Boy, they should have just told Edwards to stay at second.

Go Reds!!!! I'd forgotten what it feels like!

Ever heard of teams winning games before they've even started playing? It's all in the eyes. If you ain't got that burning desire to beat your opponent, you're already in a "hole". Giving 100 percent tends to keep you in the game. Being complacent (as the Reds and Miley were before this game). If Paul Wilson had made an effort to throw something other than fastballs (we've still not heard why he did that) and to paint, it probably wouldn't have gotten that ugly. Also, that was only one game out of eight in that losing streak that it was that ugly that early on. So, I don't really buy your argument.
