After committing an error and going 0-6 last night he gets moved up to 2nd while Kearns who homered in his last two games gets benched for 2 nights and placed 7th?!

Dave Miley apparently lives in a parallel universe which cannot be reached by sound or logic.

How much you want to bet that Miley did it in an attempt to remove Aurilia from RBI opportunities? And I'm sure his backup logic will mean we see at least one Aurilia sac bunt tonight after Lopez gets on.

Guy put Aurilia in the 2-slot to make Outs and didn't think twice about it. I'm now pretty sure that the only thing on the opposite side of a black hole is Dave Miley's brain.

It's a god-awful small affair
To the boy with the greying hair
But his manager is yelling "No"
And his past rep has kept him in the show
But his range is nowhere to be seen
Now he walks through my sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And he's hooked to the second slot
But the bat is a saddening bore
For he's lived it ten times or more
He could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask him to focus on
Bunt Hits dragging in the infield
Oh man! Look at those cavemen go

Take a look at the coach man

That he's smarter than the rest of us. Just like Boone used to do.

What gets me is that Aurilia gets chance after chance after chance. Austin Kearns has a slow start, and he gets buried on the bench.

Kearns hits two homers....still on the bench.
Aurilia makes two terrible plays in the field and goes 0-6.....moved up in the lineup.

Makes no sense.

Aurilia's OPS is now 594. That's Castro-esque.

Like that was the problem last night even though they had a 4-run lead.

Every night I get hotter under the collar than I was the night before, and every night, I don't think it's possible to get any more angry.

Serious question here: What, honestly, could be his rationale to this lineup? I, for one, can not guess. But I'm curious as to what others may think.

Dave Miley played baseball in the 70's.

Most #2 hitters from 1965-1995 were "contact" hitters whose job was to move guys over or create the out after Omar Moreno or whatever skinny out machine was batting leadoff that day.

Dave Miley still has More than a Feeling and he's going to play Headgames with you and me until we begin Taking it to the streets.

If Austin Kearns gets traded (a guy with upside and who's very cheap right now), well, I just don't know.

I have no idea what this hatefest is all about, but I can't imagine why DOB doesn't like him... unless it's because he's talked to the media a couple times, but I somehow think it's more than that, and it may be what led Austin to go AWOL for a couple days last year.

He's done what he asked him to do, including the third base experience. Austin spent a whole lot of time on that during the offseason last year; Dan said the plan was a failure (never said why) but regardless, said he'd play him there a bit during ST, but he never did.

And remember how long he was on the DL last year? Wasn't something said about that too? Like he was ok for quite awhile before they took him off and brought him back up. Or was it the lengthy rehab assignment; I can/'t remember exactly.

What ever, I'd just like to throw my hands up in the air and not care... but I do care, and it's making me more sick to my stomach each and every day. I can only speculate how the players must feel.

"Hal said he was shocked Aurilia was in the lineup, much less than batting second. Hal says there is talk in the clubhouse that Miley is being told who to play and by more than just a few players"

Wonderful!

Makes sense on a certain level. GMs tend to like the players they've acquired and it probably hasn't escaped DanO's notice that his acquistions have fallen flat outside of Joe Randa and Kent Mercker. Perhaps he's worried others will notice as well. For instance, if John Allen wanted Wayne Krivsky instead of DanO and then overruled DanO, hiring Miley instead of Brian Graham, then who's he more likley to blame for this mess?

I believe Felipe has now doubled in 5 consecutive games. I was opposed to him leading off..but he's changed my mine. That OBP is up around .400 now.

Though his BB per plate appearance are down (likely due to his sporadic early usage), I've always believed that he will take enough pitches, draw enough walks and hit with a high enough average (from both sides of the plate) to merit hitting in the #1-2 slot. A likely .300+ hitter whose BB totals and EBH power will keep him near 375-400OBP range with near 500 Slg%. An added bonus, is that as he settles into a defined position and role, he might start to develop his running game too, for some speed adjusted OPS benefits, as he is the type of guy who can probably swipe 20-25 at a 75% clip IMHO.

As a "FeLo is the future" guy from the day he arrived, I'm thrilled to see him weather the storms of struggles, injury, attitude, misusage and emerge from it as a guy who is starting to put it all together. Lark knew this kid had the tools to be the next stellar Cincy SS, and it's a huge boost to this talent desperate franchise to have a guy like Felipe growing into the role.

Freel in for Kearns..I did hear wrong

Miley :bang:

The only thing I can figure is that Miley saw Austin Kearn's car speeding away from his house late one night and thinks the worst...

Kearns goes 1-3 with a double and gets pulled from the game. Why put weenie arm Freel in right?

Pretty big K for Wagner, IMO. He's one of the few guys on this team that I have hope for-- so I watch his every move more intently.

Yes, and that was actually astutely putting him in a position to succeed (and a profound BP move by Miley is less frequent than a yeti sighting). Jackson can beat a guy who relies on location like Weathers, but should be easily overpowered, and a guy who will chase a slider the likes of Wagner's. He pulled a pitcher at an appropriate time, went with a solid matchup, and put Wagner in a position to succeed. A rare positive from the BP, and a nice effort from the 1 guy whose pivotal to the future of this 'pen.

I'd venture it's because Cruz is Mileys PH guy, he wants him to be ready just inc ase.

Now this is the infield many were arguing for over the winter.

Raisor & Zombie come to mind.
and maybe even Steel.

Ahem.......

The whole loathing of the Randa signing here.

Wasn't he the best pinch-hitter in the league last year? I remember him having a crazy-good batting average as a pinch-hitter at some point. That and the surplus of players we seem to have(if you consider Rich a player-no offense to him as a person, just sayin').

Hellllooooo? Can anyone answer my Jacob question?

with Dunn, Kearns, WMP, Junior, Casey, and Freel in fronit of him at the positions he plays, how many games is dude going to get?

I'd rather they have gone with AJ ZAPPPPPP, if only because he's got a cooler name.

I'm working on it, just had to check first. LOL Cruz is a OF/1B, mostly OF and the Reds have better options than Cruz when it comes to playing time.

Ok, thanks. I went in to look at his roster position before I asked the question because I haven't seen him play in so long that I forget where he plays. On the Reds active roster, he's listed as an infielder, so that's why I asked.

Encarnacion is 2-3 tonight. Trade Randa for a pitching prospect and call up Eddy. :D
