That's one philosophy. Another one is that you try and get as many runners on base before a guy like Dunn comes to the plate. That gives you an out or two to get some on.

Actually, last week in another thread I got into a discussion with, M2, I think, about this very thing. I really thing that, at the LEAST you keep Dunn, Lopez, and one of Kearns/Pena. While I'd love the idea of all four, one of the 3 OF's are going to get shipped out, IMO. But yes, I included Lopez in that list of players we (the Reds) need to build around.

Jelousy overrides common sense in this instance.

I mean, seriously, did the Reds FO oversleep for the meeting where everyone else picked out a hard-throwing youngster?

What 'jelousy'? We can see that the Reds have no common sense, but what did they have to be jealous of? That they don't have a $25 million pitcher? FYI, it's "jealousy". ;)

If this isn't a clue that Don Gullet isn't the man the Reds need at pitching coach helm, I don't know what is. It seems that EVERY pitcher regresses under Gullet. I guess it's more important to please the old-timer ticket buyers than the fans that don't know a thing about Don Gullet.

If the Reds are not going to fire Gullett, guys like Milton that have come from other organizations need to scrap whatever crap is being fed to them. Milton hopped up a 93 four seamer on Abreu. I don't buy Welsh's "he can't throw as hard as he used to." He's 28 years old, sure he can, unless his arm is injured, which I don't think it is. You do not bring in major league pitchers and teach them a "new" fastball. Right now, he is not getting beat with his best stuff, he is getting beat following bad advice.
