Road sweep #1, and series sweep #2 begins tonight.

Reds:

R. Freel 2b
F. Lopez ss
S. Casey 1b
K. Griffey Jr. cf
A. Dunn lf
J. Randa 3b
A. Kearns rf
J. LaRue c
P. Wilson p

Mets:

J. Reyes ss
M. Cameron rf
C. Beltran cf
C. Floyd lf
M. Piazza c
D. Mientkiewicz 1b
D. Wright 3b
K. Matsui 2b
K. Benson p

Pitching matchup:

Wilson, 1-4 with a 7.46 ERA on the season pitches for the Redlegs
The Mets counter with the reason for the pitching overpayout during the offseason in Kris Benson, he of the 6.75 ERA and 0-1 record this year.

Should be a real pitchers duel.

If Paul Wilson struggles again tonight, I don't care what he says -- DL him. He needs to be able to get out Major League hitters and he isn't doing that. But I guess we'll see what happens tonight. (Actually, we will probably have a pretty good indication in the first inning)

Joseph

Yep, the first inning will be the key for him, as always.

Benson looked solid in the first inning.

It was just the 1st inning -- Have to see how the rest of the game goes... I mean Harrang gave up 3 runs in 1 inning and all hell didn't break lose.... Hopefully Pauly settles down and pitches some baseball.

But, given the past 3 starts... something has to be wrong.

I say, DL Wilson once Pena is ready to come back and put Ramirez in his spot.

I don't know about that. As a non-UC fan, I think getting rid of Thuggins is EXACTLY what that program needs. There is no excuse for him bringing some of those players in.

You start Eric Milton. He has at least shown the capability of striking ppl. out. Paul Wilson is hurt. He's got to be, there's no other excuse for these sorts of outings.

The Front Office/Miley say that he says he is fine, but he's obviously not fine, and he's killing this ballclub with these sorts of "performances"

Nothing is wrong with Wilson, he'll tell you that, Gullet will tell you that, and O'Brien will tell you that he's gonna believe whatever comes out of Paul's mouth. I have to say, he had maybe four more mph on his fast ball last year, but it wouldn't make that much difference anyway. He can't pitch with 90 percent grit and 10 percent guile.

There is at least one other excuse: He is just not that good. Last year was the abberration for P. Wilson, and the Reds FO was fooled by it. And even last year after the All-Star break he was terrible. His ERA since that time is over 6.00. I don't think he is struggling, I think these are realistic results for him. He was released by the Devil Rays, for crying out loud.

Outside of the first series of the year, what, exactly, has Joe Randa contributed to this team. It seems like he is always up with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs and he can't do anything. Again, there is a reason teams like the Pirates and Royals didn't want him.

I disagree. The Roy Bright situation should have been the last straw. His players have long been out-of-control yet he continues to bring in questionable characters. It's no secret what UC's national reputation is ONLY because of its thug-life basketball program. That's all Bob Huggins' fault. There is a reason that UC was voted, by far, college basketball's "Most Hated" program by Sports Illustrated last year.

Coffey was making his first trip to NYC

Just correcting this. The entire family went to NYC back when Todd was 9. First night we went to a Yankee's game. Next morning our car was stolen out of the hotel parking lot. We flew home. The funny thing was Todd was afraid of flying at that time. He told us to put him on a bus home. We convinced him the plane woudln't go higher than the hotel we stayed in. I will never forget him yelling at us on the plane. YOU LIED.
