No Kearns and they are facing a LHP? Don't make sense to me.

Kearns is sitting, Casey's playing....

and hitting 3rd.....

as if this team weren't handicapped enough w/ its inept pitching, the manager plays favorites

Kearns is sporting a 618 OPS versus LHP so far this season in approx. 37 PAs - Casey has a 673 OPS in approx 62 PAs.

Somehow, I believe Kearn's last plate appearance in yesterday's ball game is still fresh in Miley's mind.

if he's going to sit someone, could he please sit Casey? i mean really, what's wrong with:

Right now it is painful to watch Jiminez hit. He is just putrid. I would have liked to see Bergolla in there in the 8 hole.

Freel-LF
Lopez-SS
Dunn-1B
JR-CF
Kearns-RF
Randa-3B
LaRue-C
Bergolla-2B
Milton-P

Surprising no Beltran for the Mets. I figured he would have been good for at least two homers against Milton. ;)

Well nothing really except the fact that with the lineup above there are 3 lefthanded hitters in a row against a LHP. Maybe put Griff hitting 3rd, Kearns 4th, and Dunn 5th.

No, I'm sure not a word was said, and that Austin found out that he wasn't in the lineup an hour or two before game time.

Some talk about Paul Wilson being skipped in the rotation this weekend. Wilson isn't very happy about it, but oh well. Marty said he's got a feeling there will be some roster changes real soon, but Marc wasn't sure there would be much this weekend after talking to Dean Taylor. Maybe Wily Mo coming off the DL and Coffey going down, that's about it. Claussen is going into a Matt Belisle-like role for now with Elizardo Ramirez getting a start in his place Saturday. Both agreed that there were some players who are way too comfortable in that they know they're not going to get cut or sent down, and that the team needs a fire lit under it. Suggested a Jimmy Haynes-like release may do the group some good. Also said there were some players in Louisville (specifically mentioned Booker and Keisler) that are worth a shot over some guys in Cincinnati right now.

the bases were loaded and freel hit a ball back to glavine who came home with it, piazza went to first to get the double play but his throw was high and the mets 1st baseman had to jump to get it and was still off the ground when freel got to first. Umpire called freel out at first and miley argued. it clearly looked to me like miley was trying to get tossed

I don't know about a shake up, but the following needs to happen.

Kearns has to play everyday so that we find out if he can live up to potential.
Freel at 2B, Lopez at SS ... everyday.

If the ump is horrible all day, then you have to adjust to his strikezone.

I keep waiting for these umps to give AD more of those borderline calls ...or basically pitches that get called balls for players that have a rep for knowing the strike zone.

I will always hope for the time that a machine calls the balls and strikes. Have an ump back there....but with an earpiece telling him that the pitch was a ball or a strike. This "human" element stuff is nice but i do not want one of these lousy ball and strike umpires deciding the games.
