View Full Version : Bowa negotiations break down

Dr. Johnson

After 10-15 unreturned phone calls to my college buddy the sports agent, he finally returned my call. I ask him what was up with the Bowa rumor, he said he would call me back. When he did, he said that his friend told him that Bowa wanted a all new coaching staff, he did not want to keep Hume and Gullett especially! He also wanted a three year deal, the Reds wanted him to finish out the season and one more year. However my friend did tell me that Jim Leyland is not out the picture yet....Leyland is telling his agent to get talks going again with the Reds. Pittsburgh is only a couple of games below .500 and their front office has no reason to make a move. Leyland really wants back in baseball, especially in the NL.....even to manage the Reds!

If the Rumor was true about Bowa and I have no reason to think why it was not true, what was Bowa thinking???? Why not take the job, we have some talent. Any job he takes will be a rebuilding job. Why not Cincy? We have a great baseball town!

When was the last time the Reds got beat by a three run homer from an American League pitcher? Embarassing! To dead centerfield no less!

That has nothing to do with Bowa becoming the Reds manager.

This was more predictable than Dan O'Brien sounding like a robot every time he opens his mouth.

Well, I kinda do. We try to stay on topic around here, especially when there is a game thread just a click away.

I heard Pamela Anderson was in negotiations with Dan O'Brien, John Allen, and Carl Lindner. But they broke down, because George Grande insistance she wear a bra.

This isn't true because it would violate MLB hiring pratices in regards to minorities. Policies the Reds have publicly endorsed in the past.

You can hire an interim, but not a permanent, Sounds bogus to me

Earlier Dr.John-son said that Bowa wanted a all Phillie coaching staff. That sounded fishy and gave him away. Be creative in your lying, why don't you?

Approaching Sunday. This was never going to happen. What perfect timing for the negotiations to break down.

That has nothing to do with Bowa becoming the Reds manager.

And, neither did your comment. Anyway, Miley is a "good guy" and therefore will finish out hte season. The Reds might try shedding some salary, but they're not going to kill off all the ticket buyers.

my unnamed inside sources claim people who claim to have unnamed inside sources usually do not usually have unnamed inside sources.

which would make me stark, raving mad.

Okay, Dr. Johnson...hee is what I hear you saying in your post...

I'm full of it...Remember that one thing I said that one time about that one dude on that one team? Yeah, well forget it because I talked to a space alien who said this one dude was all like "no, you can't do this" and then the one dude said "uh-huh, yes I can" and then the space alien said too him..."Just forget it because you're a dork...I am out of here"...and then he got in the spaceship and went back to where he was from."

Well today is the day Dr Johnson's prophecy will come true or not, and if anyone did have any belief in this guy(i dont no why), no one can trust someone that is making stuff up just to get attention. Its a typical Boy who cried wolf story.

But Larry Bowa is a minority. He's a sociopath.

Not to mention Narron is OB's go to "guy". BTW Bowa would not get rid of Hume. They are good friends and Hume is widely known as one of the best bullpen coaches in Baseball.

i too was skeptical about the Bowa rumor especially since it came for Dr. Johnson's "sourses"....if the Reds were to hire a manager, i think it should be someone younger...who, i admit i really dont know....or if the Reds really want to think "outside the box" why not give Sparky a two-year deal Saturday night (5/28) during his number retiring ceremony.....just kidding, kind of.....

I dont believe any of the above Larry Bowa to manage the Reds rumor/trash.

However, here's one thing to remember for anybody wanting Bowa to manage Cincinnati. Larry Bowa has been around for years and hasn't done squat.

If I were running the club, Gullett would he fired tomorrow morning. I would move Vern Ruhle out of the minors and into Gullett's job. If the Reds are still crap at the All-Star break, Miley is out and Jim Leyland is in.

I think Lee Aliea would be good to we need somebody to light the match and get things started.

no doubt dying to take over the Reds

Remember, Leyland left the Rockies because it was a stressful job, and left the Marlins because he didnt want to go through rebuilding. That tells me that Leyland wouldnt consider the Reds and wouldnt go through with rebuilding.

The Phillies last year had some key ingredients in place and some excellent prospects in the minors. For some reason, I see him taking over St Louis when LaRussa decides to hang it up.

Maybe Danny Graves called Leyland and told him that there's no stress in Cincinnati because it doesn't matter if you win or lose.

I wouldn't want Leyland around our young pitchers.....wait...
