Per Segman,

Same as yesterday, but insert Louis Lopez into second (batting 8th) for Bergolla

3B Freel
SS Felo
1B Casey
CF Griff
LF Dunn
RF Kearns
C Fe Fe Larue
2B Louis Lopez
P Claussen

Anyone else think that Bergolla looked awfully overmatched last night. Its the first time I saw him at bat this year. Looks like he needs a full year down in AAA. Hopefully its just one game, I was hoping to see a little more out of him than a bunch of whiffs, and a gift infield single. Perhaps a couple of solid outs, or at least ground balls.

Randa has something with his foot/ankle.

Randa has something with his foot/ankle.

They said last night on the broadcast (GB TiVo) that his ankle was hurt...nothing serious, I guess, just banged up.

I enjoy this lineup a heck of a lot more than previous Miley creations, but I'd still like to see a split somewhere between that Casey/Griffey/Dunn combo. The Mets sure figured it out with Koo in their series with the Reds, and we saw how bad those 3 looked against Scott Sauerbeck the other night.

It just screams "easy inning" for a team with a solid lefty specialist. I don't really understand WHY, exactly, but it always seems that way. A Mike Gonzalez/Ray King/Koo/Chris Hammond/Matt Perisho type and that L-L-L sequence is 90% sure to go down for the count.

Upon Pena's return, it should be a little easier to slot a power RH hitter in between those 3.

cumberlandreds
05-24-2005, 06:41 PM
The Nats don't have a lefty in their bullpen at this time or on their 25 man roster in fact. So we should have an advantage with all out lefty hitters.

Yeah, but Felipe looked absolutely AWFUL last year when he came up the first time.

It's good that Bergolla can see some ML pitching without it costing us too much. Then he can go back to AAA with a better idea of what he has to work on to stick up in the bigs.

All four of the hits Griffey has of Hernandez are homers.

Claussen could be next on the chopping block. DanO is in a decadent mood right now. All players who were part of the past regime or aquired in the 03 trades should be held on notice. Wonder why the Lizard got the call over Steve Kelly? Why was DanO so gunhoe to get rid of Moseley?

That isn't his problem. Both Carroll and Johnson were down two strikes, but he allowed both to get on board afterwords.

Tony Cloninger

He just cannot put people away. He has to learn really good command in order to compensate for no out pitch.

I can only assume this is sarcasm because not only is Kearns responsible for all the Reds RBIs against a pitcher VERY tough on RHH, but he's taken virtually every count to 3-2 before making an out, thus making productive outs. He's done nothing wrong by my count. And relative to every other offensive player, he's been great.

first of all, tracy jones has always been all over juniors jock....always. So where have you been. Second of all, I read a stat in sports illustrated, actually a graphic about a month ago, it was a comparison of Ken Griffey Jr's #'s, and Kevin Mench (reserve player/spot starter for the rangers) #'s during the last four years. I would bet gilpdawg you don't even know who kevin mench is, but thats right in the past four years, that baseball nobody has out produced Ken Griffey offensively. I know who Kevin Mench is. He's not that obscure of a player. Anybody who follows baseball would know him. That's not a fair comparison and you know it. Show me the numbers. It's great you can pick out the stats which suit your argument. In the last four years Junior has only been a bit player. FOR THE LAST FOUR YEAR JUNIOR HAS BEEN INJURED. It's quite obvious that you don't like Junior as a player. To say that he is no longer even a good player would indicate that when analysing Junior's performance you are prejudicial, ie more likely to be critical of his performance.
