Today's Reds Lineup per Pic on 1360

Freel 3b
Fe Lopez SS
Griffey Cf
Dunn 1B
Kearns Rf
Cruz Lf
Valentin C
Bergolla 2b
Belisle P

Harang out with flu-like symptoms. Casey out with shoulder. Cruz gets 1st start.

Edit: Sorry about the Felo confusion

Hopefully they don't have to bump Harang much more.

How serious is Casey shoulder?

Red Leader
05-25-2005, 11:14 AM
omg, it takes 1/2 the team being injured following a 14 innning game, but Adam Dunn is hitting cleanup....wonder what it would take to get Miley to put him in the 3 spot?

alexad

I wonder what this will do with the rotation. Do you move Harang back a day. I do not think you can skip his turn. Milton needs to stay in his normal spot. It looks like Claussen who was suppose to pitch on Sunday will be the one bumped.

redsfan30
05-25-2005, 11:20 AM
I would like to see Harang put in Ramirez' spot tomorrow against Oliver Perez if he's able to go. Perez is a tough enough match up for the Reds so if you can, I think you need to match your best pitcher up against him. If he's not then it's a moot point.

Dunn and Griffey need to be fliped. Otherwise, with what Miley has to work with (no Casey/Randa/Pena) it seems to be an all right lineup.

Timmar, which Lopez is playing? You have "Lopez" and "Bergolla" playing 2B. I'm assuming since he's at the top of the order, its Felipe, playing SS and Bergolla playing 2B, but just wanted to make sure...you never know these days.

Last night at the game they had on the scoreboard he jammed his left shoulder and it was going to be examined today. So far have not heard how bad it is.

Not a problem at all. Just wanted to be sure. If Luis Lopez was playing SS and hitting 2nd, I was going to pretend like today was an off day for the Reds.

Too bad Harang can't go today. The Nats are a light hitting bunch and he had good chance at a shutout today. Belisle should be OK though if the Reds can score four runs we will be fine.

Just a one day deal, man. You're dealing with injuries, a 14 inning marathon and a day game following that marathon. You're apt to see a lineup like this under those circumstances.

So I normally enjoy the columnist conversation part of the 2nd inning but what was lancaster talking about with bringing Kenny Kelly up. You have to put him on the 40 man and then ditch someone else which lately seems that any player we try to sneak through gets snatched up. He will get his chance but you would think Mark might mention the 40 man roster in part of his chat with Marty.

Tony Cloninger
05-25-2005, 01:22 PM
That is what i read as a direct quote from some FO type from another team.

I think sometimes....some of the Reds hitters fail to realize the situation of the game and adjust accordingly. The inability to produce with runners on third and less than 2 outs......moving a runner from 2nd with 0 outs......that type of thing that has plauged this team for the last few years.

Romano and Luis Lopez both were not on the 40 man. They have both been added (Lopez took Graves' place, Romano was added when Hancock was moved to the 60) so they've had opportunities to add Kelly, they just keep taking the "worse" option. Go figure.

Nobody says this, but the clock starts ticking on Kelly as soon as he enters the show. If you don't think this is a factor, watch how fast we get cleaned out on Lopez, Dunn & Kearns in a year or 2. I say keep him out unless we can com close to being competitive for the wild card. Save him for next year.

Kelly's not a young prospect though. He's already 26, and has only played 2 games in the majors. By the time the Reds would lose exclusive control over him he'd already be around 30. If he walked then, so be it.

I'm impressed with him, period.

Three things became evident as this season has wore on:

-Jimenez should never have been brought back, Freel shoudl have been the opening day starter at 2B
-Lopez should have been the opening day starter at SS, Aurilia never had any business being out there
-Graves should never have been handed the closer's job, the Reds should have been busy in the offseason preparing someone else to take over or, at the very least, offering up the job as a competition.

And, funny thing is, all three were things trumpeted by people on this Forum.
