Matchup
Slumps don't play favorites. And no rookie is immune. Jeff Francis (4-2, 5.24 ERA) is suffering through this season's first mini-skid, tagged for 11 runs in his past 10 1/3 innings. Frustration ruled after his last start, when Francis admitted he didn't have one pitch he could trust. Eric Milton (3-6, 7.05) doesn't mesh real well with Denver. He's not just a flyball pitcher, he's a long flyball pitcher, surrendering 20 home runs in 60 innings.

For what it's worth, Francis' ERA at Coors is just 2.92. He's 3-0 in four starts at Coors.

Just sayin'Isn't that just a hoot? That's like being a .200 hitter anywhere else. Yea, he's tore it up there ;)

And I think I'm probably approaching the "excessive player criticism" rule with Aurilia. Can I neg myself?

Tony Cloninger

I completely agree..... .286 at Coors is like about no more than .230/.240 anywhere else. And big deal that he has 10 HR's there......how many times did he play there when he was with the Giants?

I think the article in the enquirer was discussing his alleged demands and then stated how this weekend he might start beacuse of those numbers.

Ok, I'm officially dazed and confused as to the reasoning Chris Welsh just passed on to us regarding the absence of Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey, Jr.

He said DM decided to give them the night off because the Rockies pitcher is really tough on lefties. Thus, the Reds have a little better defense out there tonight.

First of all, since when is batting Dunn and Griffey against lefties a problem? (especially at Coors!) Second, someone please explain how the defense is improved?

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2778623

A violent storm packing heavy rain and gusty winds roared through Denver during the evening rush hour Friday, swamping roads and prompting tornado warnings that sent workers and residents scrambling for cover.

At the federal courthouse in downtown Denver, county officials hustled reporters out of the clerk's office to get away from windows as the wind howled and lightning lit up the sky along the eastern edge of the Rockies.

"I was working away with my earphones on. If someone wouldn't have tapped me on the shoulder, I would have worked right through it," said Patricia Pirner, a clerk for the U.S. District Court.

"We were told we needed to go to the basement." Reporters, players and other employees of the Colorado Rockies were forced to the lowest level of Coors Field as tornado sirens sounded nearby. The Rockies were scheduled to play Cincinnati later Friday.

Traffic stacked up for miles along area highways and intersections across the city were swamped with water that climbed over the hood in some places. Standing water was reported from Fort Collins to southern Colorado, Colorado Department of Transportation public information specialist Paul Peterson said.

"If you can't see the bottom, the general rule is just park it.

You're not going to be going anywhere," Peterson said.

I'd be ticked as well if I was benched in favor of the likes of Timmy Aurilia and Jason "Macaroni Grill" Romano.

Aurilia is probably looking at this series as a chance to get his batting average over .200. Maybe then someone will trade a used batting glove for him.

What in the name of God is going on with Dave Miley? Especially with regard to Dunn and Griffey... and especially the love fest with Aurilia.

I, like everyone else, just don't get it. Does he like losing?

Before he alienates every Reds fan and a majority of his players, does anyone else think he owes the fans some sort of rationale for his nutso lineups and moves? I mean a REAL reason as opposed to the vanilla stuff that's always given. Don't we have a right to know? Because there's obviously something going on with him.

Tony Cloninger
06-03-2005, 09:12 PM
Okay ....so then why is Casey in there ...Mr. Crafty LH?

Romano cannot hit....and has speed so he must be good on defense.

RA can do his "Thinker" impersenation at 2B.......throw his bat down after he swings at the first pitch and pops it up......scowl at Lopez for not covering more ground so he does not look as bad....and also step in front of Lopez to make himself look like he is trying hard and is a gamer.

Maybe, just maybe the fast guys in the big ole outfield will help out extreme FB pitcher Eric Milton. Also note that a team that comes into Denver usually has a couple days until they catch up with the altitude, the effect is more severe on older guys with tight leg muscles.

Either way their bats wil be missed, but they should have a good time watching Pixie and Dixie chase flyballs all night

Ray Knight...Russ Nixon...Vern Rapp...Bob Boone...Don Heffner. There have been some terrible Reds managers since I became a Reds fan. I'm amazed that Miley has been able to become the worst Reds manager in my lifetime.

Maybe, just maybe the fast guys in the big ole outfield will help out extreme FB pitcher Eric Milton. Also note that a team that comes into Denver usually has a couple days until they catch up with the altitude, the effect is more severe on older guys with tight leg muscles.

I was thinking the same thing with Milton on the mound. Nevertheless if you're going to do that, put Dunn at 1st or something. This lineup is the worst.

I still haven't figured out why the Reds even signed him. I know DOB hates Barry Larkin, but he could have had him for the same (probably less) and he's a better player, especially his bat, even at his age.

So who will Miley send up to PH for Milton?

Luis Lopez?

The worst case scenario, Reds losing and Aurilia and Romano playing well.

Except Relaford is playing 2B.

I would send up Dunn and leave him in

Miley is a retard(maybe only mildly)

Now more puzzling moves...

Pinch hit opportunity and we see a LH hitter against a LH pitcher but he's not our LH power who couldn't start tonight versus the LH pitcher and they're being saved until the point at which we won't either need them or use them.

Miley's a freakin' braniac.

inning would look different if Romano had taken the walk.

And it ain't like Francis didn't try giving it to him.

What logic sends up Cruz here? What is the thought process?
