Maybe Miley is just sticking to the old adage that,

"If I go down, I'm going down with a player that was suspiciously bulked up and was pretty good four years ago."

Reds1

Probably a combination of hurt and Aurilia hitting well the past few days.

I have been piling on Aurilia as much as the next guy, but isn't a bit much to be complaining because a guy is in the lineup who has hit home runs the last two games? Granted, its Coors, but so what? If it wasn't Aurilia, I think we'd be upset if he wasn't in the lineup.

Don't be amazed. Some people don't subscribe to the OBP/OPS world and still believe that more traditional benchmarks are important. Dunn is hitting under .240, gets very few RBIS except on home runs, and strikes out a lot. Some baseball people think these things are important. And I think Dunn thinks they are important as he is obviously unhappy with his hitting.

I like Dunn and think he will eventually develop into a more consistent hitter. But people who are critical of him are not necessarily stupid.

True, but traditionalists traditionally ;) give a higher value to RBI than to runs scored. I don't know why. If you check MVP voting over the years, a player who leads the league in RBI is much more likely to voted MVP than a player who leads in runs scored.

I think Wagner is just heavily overused. He should be used carefully. He should not pitch every day at Coors.

The Reds are so inept. They cut Graves, fine. But they did nothing to replace him. The bullpen consists of three guys, Mercker, Weathers and Wagner. The others pitch mop up (Keisler), or are very young and unready (Coffey) or are starting (Belisle until now) or are sitting and have no function on the team (Lizard). I guess there is also Stone.

They seem to be waiting for Hancock/Hudson. So they let game after game go by without addressing this. Against beatable competition.

Ode to George

Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he cheered the opposing team with all his best
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

He seemed thrilled to tears when Helton caught that... :(

Thought Lopez was safe at home.

True.

Helton has robbed the Reds of 4 runs already today.

And now Relaford robs the Reds of two more.

Thought Lopez was safe at home.

He was. When a runner gets tagged up near the chest, and the catcher is standing at home plate, the foot has hit the bag before the tag.

Thought Lopez was safe at home.Yes, the ump missed that one, home team got the call there.

He was.

I thought he was too, for what it's worth.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd, no outs and we hit 2 shots and don't score. And it took a bad call by the ump to ensure it.

Mike Tyson's problems make the Reds problems seem lightweight.

I guess Miley wouldn't want to argue there.

Don't you love farce?
My fault I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want.
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns?
Quick, send in the clowns.
Don't bother, they're here.

SteelSD

And Barmes hits one out.

Y'know, we can talk all we want about missed offensive opportunities, but the fact is that- thusfar- the Rockies have scored 27 Runs in this three game series.

You can play anywhere and not win with that kind of pitching.

Dunn's going to lead off in the 9th right?

LOL.....can you imagine Mike Tyson managing this team.

"I will eat your first born Adam unless you hit a sacrifice fly."

He'd have Van Gohd everyone by now.

Well at least RA can play some defense at 2B.

Well...at least the Yanks and Bravos both lost and are playing badly.

BUT the Marlins are really disappointing....2nd straight June swooning.

Can you say overmatched?

If getting swept (quite easily, too) by the worse team in baseball doesn't get you fired, then nothing will.

Nice to know that REDS Management/ownership is so willing to tank seasons each and every year. I guess they get paid the same, win or lose.

I know things are dark right now, but I honestly think this team is playing below their potential. I think they are better than this and can improve their play. I think they need guidance.

Well at least this year we don't have to argue about how they can be in 1st place with a poor run differential.
