Casey's DPs are beyond ridiculous.

because talented younger players are being set aside for him? Because as bad as he's been Kearns is OPS'ing .700 compared to Rich's .689 before today?

If it was about winning at this stage, I'd be more concerned about the pitching. Its about preparing for when Milton's gone now. Rich Aurilia is not going to make a difference with this team, nor with future Reds teams.

Replacing a slow, poor fielder with a speedy much better fielder when he's on second with no outs with a 2 run lead is very good baseball. You may as well get the speed into the game in a situation when you might need it, because you wanted the better fielder in anyway.

That's not the part I don't like. It was having a rookie enter a close game as they're usually somewhat nervous; that being said, I didn't know he had played in the bigs before, so that makes me feel somewhat better.

I guess my biggest thing, and I know this probably sounds overly stupid, is just Miley. Seems like he thinks he always needs to get everyone in the game... Kenny is brand new, and he puts him in right away.

Bingo. Any talk of making the club more competitive or visits from the COO to try and "light a fire" under the team should just be read as PR posturing to keep the fans believing there is a chance to win and buying tickets.

I agree 100% with both statements. IMNSHO, Allen's visit was totally PR to pump attendance for the TB series. They never considered any changes because they knew the team had a good chance of taking TB and playing well against Baltimore. Homestand attendance is boosted and then they can go on the road and stink again at Boston.

One more thing...even though Milton has that big contract, I'd be damned if I would march Milton out there every five days. Miley needs to learn that in the MLB, the objective is to win.
