Freel CF

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of RA this week.

It's not just Dunn now it's Lopez too..stick the hot young bats in the crappy order spots.

I liked the lineup a lot more when Freel and Lopez were at the front of it.

Then again who could have ever forseen that Dave Miley would end up loving Randa in the two hole? Who? I ask you who?

Swap Randa/Lopez and Dunn/Pena and that's probably the best you'll see from Miley.

Pena is a CF. If Freel HAS to play OF stick him RF. Let Wily play CF.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of RA this week.

Well, he has been hitting the last week, and the Reds bench (with the DH) is kinda low right now, so Aurilia should be getting the at bats.

Never thought I'd be posting those words....

TeamBoone

I'd rather see KGJr in CF for two reasons:

#1 - he's better defensively and has a cannon for an arm.
#2 - he's never hit well off the bench.

and I agree, put Lopez back in the two slot.

Isn't Kelly a CF? Is he a good fielder?

How about Kelly CF and Freel 2B (and no RA?)

I got the lineup spots exactly right. But Jr. should play CF since he's actually played there before and WMP has problems defensively. I'd have put Freel in RF but it's not horrible except for the studs batting so low as usual.

Line-up is okay. However I would like it better if Casey and Dunn were switched. Lopez or Randa in the 2 hole works.

I don't get Griffey being DH instead of CF. Fenway Park is one of the tougher places to play OF because of all the angles of the walls and the amount of space the CF has to cover. Griffey is the only OF we have that has ever played there so we make him the DH.

Very happy with Jr. at DH. Keep those hamstrings off the field for a few games.

Freel can play center. He jumped over the fence for a catch earlier in the year.

Reds Fanatic

I know. Has Freel played OF there when he was with TOR? I am not sure Freel may have played there when he was with TOR. You would think a player coming off a leg injury like Freel you would not want to have to cover all that ground in CF.

I have no problem having Griffey take a rest by DHing him. He's played an awful lot this year.

While I prefer Lopez hitting 2nd over Randa, Randa has been hot, very hot, and Lopez can probably drive in runs hitting lower. While he hasn't had a particularly hard time driving in runs from the 2 spot, I can live with it. I'm guessing that Lopez hasn't been particularly good (or doesn't like) taking pitches for Freel to steal. It seems like Freel steals more with Randa hitting behind him, but I haven't checked to see if my impression is correct.

I'd flip flop Casey and Dunn, but Casey has been the better hitter since the end of April, so it would be a strange time to do it. Assuming casey has to hit 3rd, I'd put Pena ahead of Dunn, as it helps the L-R thing, and Dunn hasn't actually outplayed Pena to date.

And Aurilla has also been hot, no reason to sit him now that we can use the DH.

I'd prefer:

Freel
Lopez
Dunn
Griffey
Pena
Casey
Randa
Aurilla
Valentin

But I can live with what's there. At least it's defensible.

Actually, they've been essentially the same hitter since 1 May.

Casey 24.64 Runs Created per 150 TPA (total: 25.3 RC, 154 TPA)

Freel has a .444 average, Aurilia has a .389 average, Dunn has a .348 average with 1 HR, Griffey has a .333 average and Casey has 2 HRs against Clement.

That's a good point since D'Lo was Pena's good friend, IIRC. But WMP seems like an easygoing guy who would get along with most people. Freel has more guts than brains, though so WMP's size may not be a deterrant.

Those that say a manager makes no difference in winning and losing? Last inning, Freel misplays a ball of the monster and then lets a ball go over his head because he misjudges it. Pena lets one drop in front of him for a double. If the world was fair and the manager was good, Griffey would be in center and those two plays wouldn't have happened. Pena would be the dh and Freel would be at second. Milton would be in the bullpen. But the world is not fair and the manager is not good, so we're down 4-0.

Not even close. Eric's hit was big, really big, and I remember it and him with great affection. And I loved the 90 team. But we're talking game 7 not game 1. The Reds are down 3-0 in the 6th inning, we haven't won a world championship in over 35 years, we lost in ''61, '70, and '72. We were one lousy pitch away from winning the night before and we blew it, and Lee was absolutely cruising. It really looked like the handwritting was on the wall, we were going to lose again to a team that just wasn't in our class. And then Tony changed all that with one swing. Not even close, and I bet you won't find anyone who witnessed both hits who would disagree with me.
