I generally agree, but that 1169 OPS in June indicates that we could ride his hot streak for a bit. Now, Miley would put him there (and has) when he was ice cold, but, for now, Miley gets a pass.

Every time you bat Aurilia in the 2-slot in the lineup, God kills a kitten.

Please think of the kittens next time.

What went on between Carpenter and Lopez there? They definately were having words.

Cedric

What was Carpenter's problem after the homer? It sure looked like he was pissed and Felipe noticed it and almost stopped at home plate. Felipe didn't stare or showboat or do anything after the homer. Sorta confused me.

They just showed the Felipe homer trot again, and it definately looked like Carpenter was popping off to Felo for no real good reason.

Casey just misses the DP.

Cedric

Why is it necessary for the Cardinals to have goons and classless players spread out throughout their whole roster? Carpenter is a bush league player. He was pissed at Felipe because he gave up a homer and lost his little scoreless streak. Disgusting.

It sure didn't hurt Felo's chances of making the NL All-Star team by hitting his 12th HR off a 9-game winner in front of the NL manager.

No it certainly does not. Thinking of a Reds pitcher going head hunting brings to mind two questions; A) could they actually hit the guy and B) would it even raise a welt?

Most likely scenario is the beanball turns into a 450ft homer.

And in the world of competitive baseball, Chris Booker strikes out 3 to get the save for Louisville, 3-2. Too bad Reds can't use him.

in 32IP he has given up 21hits with 42Ks and 17BBs. That walk rate is high but he misses a lot of bats. You would think he would at least get a shot.

I was able to catch video of the Lopez homerun. I too noticed that Carpenter was jawing at Felipe as he rounded third. Did anyone ever figure out what he was spouting off about?

Lopez didn't show him up or anything. He couldn't have possibly been upset that Lopez swung for the fences in that situation.

Video of the Lopez homerun (http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mediacenter/index.jsp?c_id=cin) can be found by clicking on the top plays link.

Well... Marc Lancaster has a quote from Felipe regarding Carpenter.

Along those lines, I asked Felipe about the exchange with Carpenter and he gave us a great quote ("I stopped to hear what he was saying to me, but he never looked back, so I guess it must have not been that important")

By the way Marc, I love reading your blog. Especially your Day in the Life posts!

I dont see how Carpenter could be mad at Lopez. Right after he hit the ball he took off running and ran all the way around the bases except when he heard Carpenter saying something when he was getting near homeplate.

I just hope the Cardinals arent stupid enough to hit Lopez tomorrow because of that.

You know what ticks me off even more.....was Welsh saying..."Now what is Lopez saying to Carpentar? Why is he jawing with him?"

This guy and GG have their heads up STL colon that they cannot even objectively see that it was CC who was doing the yelling.
