Ugh.

I don't care how "hot" he is, Aurilia should never be batting second and getting more at bats than Casey, Griffey, Randa, Dunn and Pena.

Couple observations here...

The lineup order is still horrible, but we all know that. More importantly, we have a horrible pitcher (Milton) going up against a horrible offense (the Tribe). Something's gotta give, and I'm guessing the Tribe's offense breaks out tonight.

You can imagine my disappointment upon opening this thread.

He probably isn't playing because the reds are starting a tough left hander.

Milton will never be any good again as a major league pitcher unless his velocity returns as I have said many of a time. He needs his 4 seamer to be in the 92-94 range and if it isn't, he is extremely easy to hit which makes all his other pitching vices standout even worse.

For the benefit of those not stuck at work (at another radio station no less) who are listening to WLW, I thought I'd post quickly that Lancaster's reporting with Marty that Kearns has not asked for a trade, and simply asked if there was interest in him from other teams. He said Kearns said he wants to play out his career as a Cincinnati Red, and the stuff about him requesting a trade his false. Marc also said that Dan O'Brien has reiterated yet again that he is not interested at all in dealing Kearns. Take that for what it is.

Staying put?

CLEVELAND -- Contrary to published reports, Austin Kearns did not demand (or request) a trade out of Cincinnati, according to Reds GM Dan O'Brien.

"His comment was, ‘I’d like to play the rest of my career in Cincinnati, Ohio, if that’s possible,'" O'Brien said Friday afternoon.

Besides, said O'Brien, the Reds have no desire to deal the 25-year-old outfielder.

"We’re not interested in trading Austin Kearns," said O'Brien. "He’s in Louisville with a very specific program, and the goal is to get him back to being the player that we know he’s capable of being, wearing a Cincinnati Reds uniform."

The GM again declined to provide any sort of timetable for Kearns' return to the majors. Kearns is hitting .379 with a home run and six RBIs in seven games since being optioned to Louisville.

Hey, Milton continues with the *MQS* (5 innings, 4 runs).

A MQS, or a "Milton Quality Start" is when your starter gives up one less run than innings pitched.

It's fairly similiar to the *GS*, or the Graves Save, where you give up 2 runs, and 5 baserunners in one inning, but still record the conventional save.

Griffey's opposite field HR in the 2nd, and his HR on a high inside pitch in the 8th were, to my memory, each a first for Griffey this year.

Some sports writer said that when Griffey felt he was strong enough to hit with power to the opposite field, we would begin to see the Griffey of old. He's been generating all his power by pulling pitches, and laying off the outside pitches.

We might be beginning to see the Griffey of old.
