WARNING: the following post does not complain about the lineup (even though the lineup is pretty much consistent with every game we have played lately, so really can't come as much of a surprise), so read at your own risk.
WARNING:MAY CONTAIN SOME POSITIVE REMARKS THAT MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME:

I sure hope that Milton continues his string of "better" pitching; it would make his staying here more palatable, and better yet, would make it easier to trade him.

Last time the REDS faced Lowry

* Aug. 3, 2004 @ SF (a TUESDAY @ 10:15 on FoxSN!)
> Giants win, 11-0.
> Lowry's 1st start of the year (4th in his MLB career).
>> CG, 3H, 9K, 2BB.
> Lowry's 1st MLB win.
> REDS get their 1st hit w/ 0 outs in the 7th inning!

... two games before the above game, the REDS were shutout on a 4-hitter by Astros pitching.

Yep. Everyone remembers 1961 for Mantle and Maris but that short porch made things much easier on those two than Mays and McCovey had it in the vast expanse of Candlestick.

If Mays had played in a neutral park, I have little doubt that we'd have been watching McGwire and Sosa chase him instead of Maris.

No, straight away center field in the Polo grounds was huge. But Candlestick was also a terrible home run park. If Mays and McCovey had hit anywhere else, they'd have hit a bunch more.Candlestick was bad in its original config with the stadium open in the OF. It became more HR friendly after it was enclosed.

SteelSD

Machado in the OF.

Looking at his numbers, I really can't possibly see what the Reds are seeing in this kid to go through all this to get him playing time up here.

It's not about performance except when it's about performance.

With Machado, it's about "versatility".

I love telling this joke about an optimist kid and a pessimist kid. The pessimist kid ends up in a room full of toys he won't play with for fear of breaking them. The optimist kid finds himself in a room full of horse manure as is happy as heck because he's just sure he'll find a pony.

Dan O'Brien is looking for a pony right now.

And, as I type that, Casey remembers that there's a place called "left field" and singles but is erased by Griffey's Casey. Casey planning to sue Griffey for patent infringement. News to follow.

My stupid computer froze up, so I missed the two runs we just scored.

(Oh well, I suppose I should just be grateful that we just scored twice!!) :D

I had some translucent dude with visible organs floating in the goop.

But I prefer the 'do on this guy--like he just pulled up in a suped-up Econoline van with diamond-shaped bubble windows and shag carpet from floor to ceiling in back.

Yeah, but the um...outfit on 'ol stretch was a little "too" for me.

And if you could push on the back of the translucent dude and watch his lungs expand, I had that guy too.

He fought well against my Six Million Dollar Man.

Hard to believe the Giants traded Jerome Williams

This looks like a typical Reds game.

Except the Giants are playing the part of the Reds.

Is it possible that there are two of us???

(Credit to the last line goes to poster Austin Kearns)

If only the Reds could get an offense, they would be such a good team.
