i think that lineup is merely bad, rather than completely inexplicable and terrible a la the dunn batting 6th or 7th lineups.

my lineup is lopez, randa, dunn, griffey, pena, casey, aurilia, larue, pitcher

Wonder if there is a law that says Randa or Casey must be in the top 3 in the lineup ;)

Yep.

In Ohio, if you ignore an orator on Decoration day to such an extent as to publicly play croquet or pitch horseshoes within one mile of the speaker's stand, you can be fined $25.00.

Women are prohibited from wearing patent leather shoes in public.

It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.

It is illegal to get a fish drunk.

The Ohio driver's education manual states that you must honk the horn whenever you pass another car.

It is illegal for the Reds to bat Sean Casey or Joe Randa anywhere other than third.

That AB to J.T. Snow was a great example of why some guys need to stop pitching to contact. All Hudson had to do with two strikes on Snow was to go up the ladder on him and he'd have had a K three pitches before he finally got a groundout.

Reds Radio Pet Peeve #37: If the visiting 2nd inning is quick and there is news to talk about with the "Beat Writer of the Day", there is never a chance to develop any real commentary or insight into what is going on (like today, never even got into Jared Fernandez getting his release).

In situations like that, I'd really like them to keep the writer on for one more half inning, to at least get an idea of the news.

Nice inning by Luke. It seems like Reds pitchers are usually incapable of posting 1-2-3 innings in the frame immediately after the offense scores runs. They always seem to give back a little of the momentum that their bats build.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the fact that Hudson had absolutely no spring training...

Possibly, but he should be farther along than this. He shouldn't have been even sniffed at to the ASB, but desperate times call for desperate actions. But he needs a timeout.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet....Hudson I mean, not O'Brien

A good step would have been to pull him as soon as trouble hit in the fifth. Let him build confidence on a decent 4 plus innings.

I tend to agree, though, that the weak Giant offense helped Luke tonight. He wasn't striking out guys and he just hasn't been the same pitcher as last year. Disappointing.

I have no issue with focusing on a "stuff" pitcher now and then, but Standridge's stuff really appears to be below average. No real movement on the fastball. Can't seem to place his curve and then hangs one belt-high.

Throws fairly hard. Looks like a guy a minor league scout would want to bring into an organization to work with...in the minors...

Symptomatic in the Reds. They bring Eric Milton with the thought of working with him, like they would a 21 year old prospect, and try to teach him to throw a sinkerball.

The F.O. of this organization has a decidedly minor league mentality in every aspect of their dealings.

You know, I have this theory that there is actually only one Waffle House in existence, located somewhere in the middle of Montana. What you THINK are Waffle Houses are actually elaborate teleportation devices that take you to that one Waffle House.

I base this on no emperical evidence whatsoever (which qualifies me for a Reds F.O. position) other than the fact that every Waffle House I've been into is exactly the same: large woman of indeterminate ethnicity working as the waitress and the elderly gentleman at the griddle cooking up the hash browns and the pancakes...always the same two people working whenever you go in. And always that one lonely guy sitting at the "bar" by himself. You think he's a patron, but in actuallity, he's a Waffle House employee and is sitting there to make the atmosphere less awkward and to ensure that you never feel like you're the only people in the restaraunt other than the staff.
