Reds:

1. Lopez SS
2. Aurilia 2B
3. Casey 1B
4. Griffey CF
5. Randa 3B
6. Dunn LF
7. Pena RF
8. LaRue C
9. Harang P

Giants:

1. Ellison CF
2. Vizquel SS
3. Snow 1B
4. Alou LF
5. Tucker RF
6. Cruz 2B
7. Feliz 3B
8. Matheny C
9. Tomko P

I guess Narron didn't like having a .400 OBP in the 2 hole against righties. Casey's is hot right now, but still should not be in the 3 hole.

Anybody have the stats on how Lopez does when batting in front of Aurillia v. batting in front of Dunn? It seems to me, anecodotally, that he has a lot of 0-fers and 1-fers with Dunn behind him, but a lot of 2 and 3 hit games with Rich behind him.

That, if true, both confuses and irks me.

FWIW Aurilia and Casey OWN Tomko and Dunn is hitting .182 off him.

Dunn does have 2 HR's against Tomko in 11 AB's though.

With Dunn hitting 2nd:

1st time: Lopez goes 3 for 3 with a walk
2nd time: Lopez goes 4 for 5; double shy of cycle
3rd time: Lopez goes 1 for 3 HBP
4th time: Lopez goes 0 for 4 walk

Hall, I sould like to give him the rest of the year to be successful, no matter what. I wouldn't even want to see a promotion to AAA. Next year he can sink or swim in the bigs. Kelly, OTOH, strikes me as a pitcher who has a track record of success, and would seem to gain the most and lose the least by a promotion. If Hudson had options, Kelly would be up and Luke sent down. Another weak ground ball from Sean Casey. His GB/FB ratio is almost an even 2 right now, whereas last year it was closer to 1.3.

He is not elevating pitches because he is being pitched to induce grounders, and he continues to help opposing pitchers by swinging at bad balls.

When the Reds traded for Casey, years like 99 or 04 I thought would be normal years for him, with some years Casey hitting something like 340 30 homers and 120RBI type years. He never has lived up to that potential I thought he had. But not many of the 97-99 group traded for/drafted have.

If Casey was making around $3 million, there would be someone who would take him in a trade. As it is, his salary probably precludes him from being traded anywhere, especially with his $8 million number next year.

As many on this board advocated, both last year and in the offseason, the time to move Sean Casey was last July. The Reds probably could've fleeced someone in a trade if they'd been managed correctly...

Once again place age into the factor and what do you come up with? You think LaRue will even make it as far as he has? I doubt it.

Yes, yes I do. Matheny is only three years older than Jason. Fact is LaRue is and always has been a better hitter than Matheny.

Let's take Pujols and Lee out of the equation and add how many more times Casey has been at the plate compared to the other 1Bs. The reason I say take out Pujols is because nobody is compared to that man. Lee is just having his best year of his career.

So you want to take out the the top two hitters at their position to make Casey look like an above average first baseman? If you wanna play that game, take out Nevin and LaRoche too since they are the worst. It becomes a moot point.
